Minor injuries in Friday’s collision in Artois

Artois – Two of the three people involved in a vehicle accident here Friday morning were transported with minor injuries to Enloe Medical Center.

The third person was apparently unharmed.

At about 9:15 a.m. on Friday, March 5, Pavel Makovey, 57, of Sacramento, was driving a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter van east on County Road 33, and was stopped at the stop sign at Highway 99.

Angelica Gomez, 38, of Willows, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan north on Highway 99, approaching Road 33 from the south, at about 45 miles per hour.

Makovey pulled his van into the intersection, into the path of the Caravan. The right front of the Mercedes collided with the front of the Dodge.

Both vehicles came to rest in the intersection, and their occupants waited for assistance to arrive.

According to CHP Officer Scott Ovard, Gomez and her passenger, Maria Vasquez, 60, of Willows, sustained apparently minor injuries consisting of complaints of pain to their chests.

They were transported by ground ambulance to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.

Makovey did not seem to be injured.

All three of those involved in the accident were reportedly wearing their seatbelts.
