As of this moment, little is known about the fire that scorched a house in the 700 block of Second Street in Orland late afternoon and early evening on Friday, May 28.

The call went out about 5:30 p.m. or so. Orland police and Orland firefighters arrived at the scene first.

A short time later, the Orland Volunteer Fire Department called for mutual aid from the Artois Fire Department.

It appeared that much of the damage to the house was caused by smoke, with most fire damage being in the attic.

It is believed the homeowner was in Sacramento when the fire broke out, and headed back to Orland soon after notification.
