From the Halls of Justice

Here are the latest sentencings in the Glenn County Superior Court, period ending Friday, June 25, as reported by the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office and other sources.

People v. Gabriel Velasquez – Defendant was previously convicted of felony possession for sale of heroin and was found in violation of probation. He was sentenced to 240 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ruby Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Moize.

Thomas Michael Butler

People v. Thomas Michael Butler – Defendant was convicted of misdemeanor corporal injury to his girlfriend, petty theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His probation on two other cases was terminated. He was sentenced to 694 days in jail. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Dwayne Stewart, with assistance from Orland Police Department Sergeants Cessna and Johnson and Officers Andrade and Roenspie, and Glenn County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Huichapan.

People v. Shawn Dale Van Gieson – Defendant was previously convicted of misdemeanor battery, and was found in violation of probation for the third, fourth, and fifth times. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation was terminated. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Pfyl.

Cynthia Sarah Hardie

People v. Cynthia Sarah Hardie – Defendant was convicted of felony possession of over 600 images of child pornography. She was sentenced to 360 days in jail and two years probation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Detective Lopeteguy.

People v. Ruben Cruz – Defendant was previously convicted of felony corporal injury to his cohabitant and was found in violation of Post-Release Community Supervision for the seventh time. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and PRCS was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Ortiz.

People v. Angel Michele Bush – Defendant was convicted of misdemeanor trespass and was found in violation of probation for a felony violation of bringing drugs to jail for the third and fourth times. She was sentenced to 130 days in jail and two years probation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Detective Lopeteguy.

People v. Lauren Evans – Defendant was previously convicted of felony bringing methamphetamine into the Glenn County Jail and found in violation of probation for the sixth time. Defendant was sentenced to 90 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.

People v. Lucas Michael Shoop- Defendant was previously convicted of felony auto theft and was found in violation of probation for the sixth time. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Neumann, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
