Shortly after noon on Wednesday, the Orland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the area of Fourth and Tehama Streets.
As firefighters began to arrive at the scene, it was noted that a large amount of smoke could be seen. The Artois Fire Department was called to lend mutual aid, but the request was soon canceled.

The fire was found to be in back of 510 Fourth Street, the Hannah Reed residence. Firefighters reported that access could best be achieved through the alley that runs between Fourth and Fifth Streets.
The fire was first reported as a structure fire, then a fire to an outbuilding. The structure could perhaps best be described as a large storage container attached to the rear of the house. It looked to be pretty much stuffed full of junk.
Hannah Reed, perhaps best known for establishing an impromptu trailer park on Newville Road a few years back, was nowhere to be found. It may well be that she is still incarcerated.

In February of 2020, she was sentenced to five years in prison for welfare fraud, perjury, and bringing methamphetamine into the Glenn County Jail. In December of 2020, she was sentenced to 16 additional months for battery on a peace officer.
Although Hannah Reed was not home, Bridget Reed was inside the house. She stayed inside the house, however.
The fire was completely out in about an hour. It did not spread to the house.
