
Here are some selected incident reports from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.
Sunday, August 1:
6:33 a.m., deputies and Orland police officers responded to the report of a deceased person at 630 Lynn Drive in Orland. Upon arrival, deputies found Barbra Marston deceased. Marston’s daughter and next of kin, Traci Cooper, was on scene at the time of passing. A coroner’s investigation was initiated. Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary of Orland was notified and took possession of the decedent.
7:11 p.m., staff at Enloe Hospice contacted Glenn County Communications and reported the expected death of Carmen Willingham, 83, of Orland. Willingham suffered from pre-existing illnesses and was entered into hospice care on June 3. Willingham’s daughter and next-of-kin, Margo Lynes, was present at the time of death. Enloe Hospice staff said they would contact Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary of Orland.
10:12 p.m., Sergeant Draper contacted Zulema Medina in the area of Second and Cutler Avenues in the Capay District while on patrol. Medina had an active warrant for her arrest, which was confirmed through Glenn County Communications. Medina was taken into custody and later booked at the Glenn County Jail without incident.
10:52 p.m., Darce Gesbrecth reported a grey Kia van was swerving all over the roadway, ran a stop sign and parked on the side of Highway 99, north of County Road 57 in Willows. Deputy Goodwin conducted a search of the area. Deputy Goodwin observed a grey van pull into 900 South Tehama Street. Deputy Goodwin contacted the driver, who was identified as Mary Wilson. Wilson allegedly showed obvious signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A DUI investigation was initiated. Mary Wilson was ultimately arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. Wilson was transported to the Glenn County Jail, where she was booked.
Monday, August 2:
7:20 a.m., Rich Walker with BCM Construction contacted the sheriff’s office requesting to speak to a deputy regarding the theft of tools from a job site at Carriere Family Farms, 1640 Hwy 45 in Glenn. Deputy Tuma was dispatched and contacted Walker, who said between May 3 and May 14 an unknown person stole $10,547.76 worth of tools from a storage shed at the job site. Walker said they noticed tools were missing but did not know exactly what tools were gone. Walker said they finally completed an inventory of what was supposed to be in the shed and now needed a report for their insurance. Walker said the storage container is locked after each workday and the door is blocked by a tractor. Walker reported there were no signs of forced entry and no evidence of who might have taken the tools. Walker believed it may have been someone on the jobsite but did not wish to make accusations. Walker requested documentation and extra patrol during the nighttime hours.
8:15 a.m., Dean Miller with Glenn County Code Enforcement requested a civil standby while he contacted the occupants of 6394 County Road 23. Miller was starting a cleanup operation at the property. Deputy Rasmussen and Civil Community Service Officer Woodman responded. Glenn County Sheriff’s personnel stood by for a short period while initial contact was made. Miller was advised to recontact if anything further was needed. At 11:25 a.m., Miller contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office and said a man came to the property and was causing a disturbance. Miller requested a law enforcement response. Deputy Rasmussen responded and contacted Anil Kumar, who had come to the property to assist the property owner, Lucibar Jayme. Kumar felt the property owner had not been provided with the proper paperwork pertaining to the county’s clean-up operation. Miller said the property owner had been provided with all the proper notices and had even been given an extension. This information was passed on to Kumar. He was advised to stay out of the way of the clean-up operation and to contact an attorney or the court if he had further concerns.
8:19 p.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance involving two men and a silver Toyota passenger car. The deputy located the vehicle in the area of North Humboldt Avenue and Brennan Place and contacted Jeffery Donaldson and John Kline outside the vehicle. After investigation, both Kline and Donaldson were arrested for narcotics-related offenses. Both were later booked into the Glenn County Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene for storage by A+ Towing.
Tuesday, August 3:
6:26 a.m., GLINTF served a search warrant at 3240 Highway 99 in Artois. John Sciarratta, 62, and John Sciarratta Jr., 33, were taken into custody for possession of cannabis for sale, cultivating of marijuana, maintaining a residence for the sales of narcotics, and selling liquor without a license. Bail was set at $120,000 for both arrestees.
8:53 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a vehicle vandalism in the parking lot of McDonald’s located at 1401 West Wood Street, in Willows. The caller said a white female wearing a pink dress had keyed and kicked a Toyota Camry. The white female left the area and was last seen near the southbound Interstate 5 onramp. Deputies contacted Guillermo Ledesma, the owner of the Toyota Camry, who estimated the total cost to repair the damage was $500. Ledesma requested to pursue criminal charges for the vandalism. A white female matching the description of the suspect was found walking south on I-5, south of Highway 162. The woman was identified as Bridgette Nunes, who allegedly showed obvious signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was put through an 11550 HS evaluation and was ultimately placed under arrest for the vandalism and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Wednesday, August 4:
9:24 a.m., Deputy Ayres observed a white Toyota Celica discharging an excessive amount of exhaust smoke. The deputy recognized the driver as Charles Padilla and the passenger as TJ Morrison. The deputy believed Morrison to still have a local warrant. The vehicle was stopped at Fifth and Colusa Streets in Orland and Morrison was taken into custody for his two local warrants. Padilla was released.
1:30 p.m., Deputy Ayres observed suspicious activity at 340 Sierra Avenue, Hamilton City. Deputy Ayres checked out on Michele Urrutia. After an on-scene investigation, Urrutia was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance. Martin Chavera was also contacted during the investigation. Urrutia was transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
1:38 p.m., while on routine patrol in Willows, Deputy Lourenzo observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Highway 162 near Wilson Creek, and contacted its occupants. Upon contact, Deputy Lourenzo identified Steven Edwards and Bryan Boone as the occupants. They were recognized from prior contacts, and a records check revealed Boone was on probation and had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest in Glenn County. Boone was subsequently placed under arrest and a search of his person incident to arrest was performed. He was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well. Deputy Lourenzo transported Boone to the Glenn County Jail, where he was booked for his warrant and other charges.
Thursday, August 5:
7:29 a.m., an employee at Walmart reported two white male adults were causing a disturbance. The employee reported the men were yelling at customers and employees near the bus stop located on the west side of the building. Deputy Huichapan responded and contacted the involved parties, John Wright and Russell Niewald. Deputy Huichapan informed Wright and Niewald why they were being contacted and they denied the allegations. A records check on Wright and Niewald through Glenn County Communications revealed Niewald had an active misdemeanor warrant out of Glenn County and an active misdemeanor warrant out of Butte County. Niewald was informed of the warrants and he was placed under arrest. Niewald was transported, arrested, and booked into the Glenn County Jail and Wright was moved along.
6:06 p.m., Connor Krantz contacted Glenn County Communications and reported he just stabbed his father (the victim), after being in a physical altercation. Deputies contacted the victim at Glenn Medical Center and observed a small laceration on his back. Deputies contacted Connor at 6964 Highway 32, Orland. Connor admitted he and the victim were in a physical altercation and he produced a small brown pocket knife and attempted to slice the victim. Connor then contacted his mother to retrieve him from the location of the altercation. During the investigation, deputies discovered Connor’s mother is the protected party in a served criminal protective order to prevent domestic violence, with Connor being the restrained party and a no-contact stipulation listed. Connor was subsequently arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
Friday, August 6:
10:46 a.m., an employee from Glenn County Child Welfare Services, 420 East Laurel Street, Willows, reported Antinazia Valerio was at their business and believed to have a warrant for her arrest. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Communications Center conducted a records check on Valerio and she was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant for her arrest out of Glenn County. Deputy Lourenzo responded and contacted Valerio, who was ultimately arrested, transported, and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
10:59 p.m., Brandy Hammock contacted Glenn County Communications and reported a man just assaulted her at the Wrong Way Home Saloon, 222 West Walnut Street, Willows. Deputies responded and contacted Hammock and conducted an on-scene investigation. Hammock alleged Luis Vargas was intoxicated outside of the bar and became aggressive with several patrons. Hammock reported Vargas attempted to run towards and strike Otto Chrestensen, and missed and hit Hammock. Hammock elected to pursue the matter criminally and signed a private person’s arrest form on Vargas. Vargas was located near the bar and was arrested without incident.
Saturday, August 7:
2 a.m., Deputy Goodwin was dispatched to 3992 Highway 99, lot B, near Orland, for a report of threats. Ana Raygoza reported two people came to the property and threatened her with a firearm. The people left the property, traveling north on Highway 99 in a white four-door Mitsubishi. Deputy Goodwin responded from Orland but was unable to locate the vehicle on Highway 99. Orland police officers assisted with searching for the vehicle. Ana alleged one of the people was a woman named Cindy Carrillo. The other was a “Villano Hernandez,” later identified as Victor Hernandez. Ana alleged Carrillo threatened to kill her, while Hernandez pointed a handgun at her. Deputies and the Orland police officers attempted to locate the two at several places in Orland and Hamilton City but were unsuccessful.
7:14 p.m., Tony Xiong at the Willows Care Center reported the expected death of Timothy Cumpston, 72. Deputy Goodwin responded. The decedent had numerous pre-existing medical conditions. Arrangements were made with the Chapel of the Flowers mortuary in Red Bluff. The emergency contact for the decedent was found not to be a next of kin. Deputy Goodwin was able to locate the decedent’s brother, Dale Cumpston, out of Red Bluff. The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office assisted with notifying Dale Cumpston. He later contacted Deputy Goodwin, via telephone, as requested. Dale Cumpston was provided with information. He said the decedent had a daughter, Jennifer (unknown last name), who possibly lived in Redding. Deputy Goodwin contacted numerous law enforcement agencies in California and Washington, in an attempt to locate the decedent’s daughter. Deputy Goodwin was ultimately unsuccessful in locating the decedent’s daughter. Dale Cumpston was notified of the findings.
