Demolition of the old Orlanda Inn at 827 Newville Road began this week, and it didn’t take long to complete.

An employee from a neighboring business told The Observer on Friday, April 15, it took no more than two days to level the motel and clear the debris.

Late last year, the City of Orland began working with Habitat for Humanity Yuba-Sutter to turn the Orlanda Inn Motel, 827 Newville Road, into a permanent housing facility for the homeless.

Last month, the State of California awarded the project $8.7 million, and work began almost immediately.
