Both occupants of a vehicle that collided with several trees just north of Artois on Saturday, April 23, were transported with major injuries to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.
At about 12:40 a.m., Letticia Cordero, 26, of Willows, was driving a 2019 Toyota north on Highway 99 at an unknown speed.
She lost control and the Toyota left the east side of the roadway, where it collided with several trees south of County Road 33.
Cordero was able to exit the vehicle while her passenger, Francine Ortega, 45, remained inside.
According to CHP Officer Gilliam, it was determined that Cordero was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. She was arrested at the scene, but was released for medical treatment.
Ortega was wearing her seatbelts at the time of the crash. Cordero was not.
