A Bay Area man lost his life late Monday night when the car he was driving left County Road 39 and hit an oak tree.
At about 11:05 p.m. on Monday, June 6, Lennie Andrew Dombach, 23, of Martinez, was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon west on County Road 39, east of County Road S, at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the Toyota to drift off the north side of the road onto the gravel shoulder while the vehicle was entering a curve in the roadway.
The back end of the Toyota began to rotate in a counterclockwise direction while sliding south across the east- and westbound lanes. The Toyota then left the roadway to the south, where the passenger side struck an oak tree, bringing the vehicle to a stop.
California Highway Patrol officers, Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies, fire department volunteers, and Butte EMS responders were all dispatched to the accident.
Dombach, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelts at the time of the collision with the tree.
The CHP conducted an accident investigation while Deputy Gonzalez conducted a coroner’s investigation.
The decedent was released to the care of F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary of Willows. The Martinez Police Department assisted with contacting next of kin.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact CHP Officer Taylor at 530-934-5424.
