Dovie Ann Persky died in Sacramento on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was born in Las Animas, Colorado, on January 25, 1951.
She graduated from Mt. Shasta High School and furthered her education at CSUC Chico, where she earned her teaching credential. She dedicated 32 years to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher, a career marked by love and respect from her students.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was a beacon of joy and inspiration. Her infectious laughter and ability to brighten any room were cherished by all.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, having coffee with her friends, shopping, vacationing with her husband, and watching her kids grow.
She had a way with the pen. Here are some of her own words:
“So I give to you the gift of Time. Which really means the gift of me. Time for you and I to just be … I want to spend some of my time with you Doing whatever it is you want to. At this point in my life, I know this: What a precious gift each day truly is. And I want you to know … How truly precious you are to me. And for you to treasure the time you and I could just be.”
Her life was enriched by her loving family.
She is survived by her spouse of 50 years, Preston; son Kyle (Tanya) Persky; daughter Kara Trunzo; and grandchildren Michael, Katie, Sammy, Trajan, Cloey and Natalia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Gray; father Burl Du Bose; brothers Jack and Burl Du Bose; and sister Kathryn “Kathy” Du Bose.
Services are planned for 1 p.m. on Friday, November 15, at the Willows Christian Church. A reception to celebrate her life will be held at the Elks Lodge following her burial.
Her legacy of kindness, joy, and dedication to education will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
