Laura Belle Cannizzaro of Orland died at WestHaven Senior Living in Orland on Thursday, March 20, 2025. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, to John Smith and Eleanor Bradbury on July 27, 1935.
On July 3, 1954, she and Dominic Cannizzaro, Jr., were married. They were happily married for 59 years.
She was very proud of her five sons, and took much pride in raising them. For 40 years, she was dedicated to being a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons Nick (Nina) of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Dave (Bette) of San Leandro, John of Fort Bragg, Paul (Jennifer) of Powell, Wyoming, and Vince (Stephanie) of Orland; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Smith; mother, Eleanor Smith; and brothers Jack, Charlie, and Tommy.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the Orland Cemetery located at 3900 County Road P. A reception is to immediately follow the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to “Wreaths Across America.” Donation checks can be sent to Dottie Tefelski, 102 Chapman Street, Orland, CA 95963.
