On Tuesday, May 4, the Willows office of the California Highway Patrol issued a news release for the accident mentioned in The Observer on Sunday.
At 10:24 a.m. on May 2, Gerry Giesbrecht, 49, of Artois, was driving a 2009 Chevy Suburban west on County Road 33, approaching the on- and off-ramps for southbound Interstate 5.

Joyal Dishman, 44, of Sacramento, was driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma east on Road 33, turning left onto the on-ramp to southbound I-5.
Giesbrecht’s Chevy struck Dishman’s Toyota as she was making the turn onto the on-ramp.

According to CHP Officer Kevin Baxter, Dishman was transported with moderate injuries to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.
Giesbrecht was uninjured.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident, and the airbags in the Suburban deployed.
There were also passengers in one or both of the vehicles, but they were not mentioned in the CHP’s news release.
