Sunday, May 23:
1:09 a.m., Joshua Huffman reported hearing a disturbance in the area of East Walnut and North Yolo Streets in Willows and requested an area check. Deputy McIntyre checked the area but no disturbance could be heard.
1:15 a.m., Deputy Lourenzo responded to 585 Main Street in Artois for the report of two suspicious vehicles in the area. Upon arrival, Deputy Lourenzo contacted Brittny Rodriguez and Hayden Sotak, both of Orland, in one of the vehicles. Both vehicles were parked legally and no illegal activity was observed. Rodriguez and Sotak were told of the complaint and agreed to move along.
1:59 a.m., an anonymous caller reported loud music at an unknown residence on County Road E, north of County Road 200, in Orland. The caller requested the person responsible for the loud music be contacted and told to turn it down. Deputy Ramirez searched the area, but was unable to locate any loud music in the area.
2:56 a.m., an anonymous person reported a physical altercation between a man and woman on the west side of the Willow Oaks Apartment complex, 1201 West Wood Street. Deputy McIntyre checked the area. No one was located in the area and no disturbance could be heard.
3:46 a.m., Deputy Lourenzo responded to the area of Fifth Street and Highway 162 in Willows for a report of gunshots heard. Deputies searched the area extensively, but were unable to locate any evidence of shots being fired, and did not hear anything in the area upon arrival.
8:08 a.m., Robert Lutz called the sheriff’s office and requested a deputy regarding a bicycle that was left on his property at 611 South Tehama Street, Willows. Deputy Turner responded and met with Lutz, who said an unknown person left a black Beach Cruiser on his property sometime during the night. Lutz requested the deputy to take the bicycle. Deputy Turner took possession of the bicycle and later booked it into Glenn County Sheriff’s evidence for safe keeping.
9:08 a.m., while patrolling, Deputy Chavez observed a white Ford F250 commit a moving violation while traveling west on West Wood Street in Willows. Deputy Chavez conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Chandler White. A records check revealed White allegedly had a suspended or revoked driver’s license, with service needed. Deputy Chavez issued White a DMV 310 form notifying him of his driver’s license being suspended/revoked.
1:48 p.m., Deputy Goodwin was dispatched to 4581 County Road J in Orland for the report of a woman causing a disturbance at the residence. Deputy Goodwin contacted the reporting parties, Debbie Havens and Lela Fillmore, both of Orland. Lela Fillmore said her grandson, Jeremy Fillmore, also of Orland, brought a Chico woman to the residence. The woman would not stop talking and frequently raised her voice to an unacceptable level for an extended period of time. Lela Fillmore requested the woman quiet down. The woman was identified as Lisa Greenberg. She was able to calm down and lower her voice. Jeremy Fillmore said Greenberg would only be staying at the residence for another day. Lela Fillmore agreed to the woman staying at the residence for one more day. Lela Fillmorewas advised to contact the sheriff’s office if Greenberg continued to cause a disturbance.
1:53 p.m., Michael Maddalena contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report his neighbors were in an argument. Deputy Chavez contacted Stephanie Wright, a transient, and William Adamson, of 904 North Butte Street, sp. #3, Willows. Both parties said the disturbance was only verbal and agreed to keep the noise down.
1:58 p.m., Cheryl Rieker contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request a welfare check on her ex-husband. Deputy Chavez contacted Roger Flook of Butte City, who was in good health and was told of the request. Flook said he would reach out to Rieker.
2:14 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers and Glenn County deputies responded to the intersection of County Road 57 and Highway 99 regarding a traffic collision. During the deputies’ response, they were informed that a white male adult fled the area south from the intersection. Deputies arrived on scene and located Stephen Baker-Rubio of Redding in the rear parking lot of Swift Trucking. After investigation, it was determined Baker-Rubio had allegedly collided into the rear of Willows resident Lusan Prices’ vehicle. Baker-Rubio was ultimately taken into custody and booked into Glenn County Jail.
3:21 p.m., Maurice Merrill of Willows contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report an abandoned house at 7441 County Road 44, Willows, was broken into. Deputy Chavez contacted Merrill, who said he noticed a broken window on the property. Merrill said the property had been previously broken into. Merrill provided the contact information of the property owner, Raymond Anger, of Willows. Deputy Chavez attempted to contact Anger but was not able to contact him by telephone. Deputy Chavez left him a voicemail message and requested a call back.
4:12 p.m., an anonymous caller reported seeing Tabitha Rubio of Orland and Michelle Urrutia of Hamilton City in a verbal dispute in a field west of the Irvine Finch boat launch. The caller said she could see Urrutia pushing Rubio’s child in a stroller and Rubio driving through the field in a black Honda sedan. Deputies responded and searched the area. The people were gone upon the deputies’ arrival and the vehicle could not be located.
4:56 p.m., the Humboldt County Office of the CHP contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request assistance contacting Latasha Giesbrecht. Deputy Chavez contacted Sean Giesbrecht at 2000 Highway 45, Glenn. Sean Giesbrecht said Latasha Giesbrecht was his daughter and she was not available. The contact information for Humboldt County CHP was provided to Sean Giesbrecht and he agreed to provide it to Latasha.
7:06 p.m., Deputy Lourenzo responded to a property on County Road H near County Road 9, in Orland, for a report of three men trespassing. Deputy Lourenzo contacted Christopher Hildebrand of Willows, Bradley Chambers of Red Bluff, and Abraham Anaya Zepeda of Orland on the property. The men said they had received permission from an employee to fish on the property. The men were told of the complaint and were provided with information regarding being on the property in the future.
7:40 p.m., Becky Falcon of Willows requested to speak to a deputy in regards to her juvenile son not returning home. Deputy Ramirez contacted Falcon by phone. While Deputy Ramirez spoke to Falcon, the boy returned home. Falcon said she did not require any further law enforcement assistance.
8:11 p.m., Julie Meredyk reported four men cut the lock on a gate to her property on County Road 25, in Orland, damaged a fence, and entered without permission. Deputies responded and contacted Michael Skidmore on Orland, Kirk Morrison of Corning, Eric Silva of Orland, and Jim Skidmore of Orland, who said they had permission to be on an adjacent property. The neighboring property owner, Alvaro Torres, was contacted and said he had given the men permission to be on his property. Meredyk said she did not want to press charges on the men for vandalizing the gate, but requested they be asked to leave. The four men agreed to leave the property, and both Torres and Meredyk were provided with information regarding the civil process.
8:39 p.m., Luis Ponce reported a burglary that occurred to his vehicle and a residence on County Road 18, in Orland. Deputy Lourenzo contacted Ponce, who reported about $4,425 in items were either stolen from within the vehicle or damaged. An investigation was initiated and is ongoing.
10:12 p.m., California Highway Patrol requested deputies respond to Highway 99 and County Road 48 for the report of bovine in the roadway. Deputies arrived and located three non-tagged, unbranded bulls on the east roadway edge. Deputies ultimately were able to push the bulls to County Road 48, where they fled into an orchard. An owner of the bulls was not found. Information was forwarded to animal control for follow up.
10:31 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Wood Street and Humboldt Avenue, in Willows, for a report of a transient women chasing children around. Deputies searched the area and contacted Mary Farwell, lying down in front of Taco Bell. Farwell had recently been released from custody. Deputies contacted the reporting party, who said he had given the children a ride home, but he had not witnessed the incident. The incident was unfounded and Farwell was ultimately provided with a courtesy ride to Corning.
10:48 p.m., Timothy Holdeman reported an alarm activation at 128 South Colusa Street in Willows. Holdeman said someone could be seen in the side yard of the property. Deputies responded and searched the property. All the doors and windows of the building were found secured and nobody was located on the property.
Monday, May 24:
12:50 a.m., deputies responded to 600 North Humboldt Avenue, apt. #190, Willows, for a report of a stabbing. Breanna Entz reported her boyfriend, Zachary Brown-Boster, had been stabbed by a black male. Deputies arrived and discovered a small puncture wound on the inside of Brown-Boster’s left arm. Deputies discovered Brown-Boster had gotten into a physical altercation with a black male and was stabbed once. The black male left the area and returned to apt. #190 shortly after with an additional four or five black males, one of the men allegedly being Antoine Bostic of 600 North Humboldt Avenue, apt. #188, Willows. The group of males broke into the residence and caused a disturbance before fleeing the area. Deputies were unable to locate the described males.
7:25 a.m., Juan Perez of Willows called and reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Glenwood Lane and Pacific Avenue in Willows. Perez said the vehicle was a black four-door sedan with tinted windows. Perez said the vehicle parked in the area last week and felt it was suspicious. Deputy Lemmon responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
10:38 a.m., Luke Reimers called and reported an abandoned vehicle parked in the parking lot of 460 West Sycamore Street in Willows. Deputy Lemmon responded and contacted Reimers, who also said an unknown person used their dumpster. Deputy Lemmon provided Reimers with information regarding the parking issue on private property.
10:45 a.m., Deputy Lemmon contacted Ricky Nunez of Elk Creek in the Glenn County Jail lobby. Deputy Lemmon had prior knowledge Nunez had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Deputy Lemmon confirmed the warrant through Glenn County Communications. Nunez was taken to the Glenn County Jail for booking.
11:19 a.m., US Bank Security called and reported an alarm activation at the Willows US Bank, 221 West Sycamore Street. Deputies responded and contacted the branch manager, Joel Troughton, who said the alarm was accidental. Deputies conducted a premises check and did not find any disturbance.
1:12 p.m., Keith Long called and reported a large maroon pickup blocking the exit of the Circle K parking lot, 210 West Wood Street, Willows. Deputies responded to the business. Deputies contacted the driver, Alicia Hayes, who was told of the complaint and agreed to move the pickup to a better parking stall.
1:32 p.m., Kyle Reeder, 35, of Orland, contacted the sheriff’s office, reporting getting into an argument with his mother, Rhonda Reeder, at 4230 County Rd JJ in Orland. Deputy Tuma contacted both parties. Both parties said it was a verbal disturbance only and the incident was handled by mediation.
2:50 p.m., deputies contacted Antione and Antone Bostic at their residence, 600 North Humboldt Avenue, apt. #188, Willows. Deputies had prior knowledge they were wanted pursuant to California Penal Code section 836. Both men were arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
4:43 p.m., Kristel Bettencourt called and reported a woman, Ruth Word, was at her neighbor’s residence and had allegedly stolen a package. Deputies were dispatched and conducted an investigation. At the completion of the investigation, Word was placed under arrest for alleged petty theft and booked into the Glenn County Jail. See report for further.
5:19 p.m., Jordan Robertson of Hamilton City contacted the sheriff’s office, reporting a woman, possibly Michelle Urrutia, screaming and hitting a car at the Double EE Market in Hamilton City. Deputies responded and checked the area but did not locate a vehicle with damage and were not flagged down by anyone in the area wanting to be a victim. Deputies checked the area for Urrutia but she was gone prior to their arrival.
6:34 p.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a report of a family disturbance at 612 Murdock Street, Willows. Deputies responded to the scene and contacted Dewayne Crawford and his adult son, Kyle Crawford. Both reported they had been in an argument regarding personal property. The matter was ultimately settled by separation, when Kyle Crawford agreed to leave the residence for the evening.
8:22 p.m., Deputy Ayres was dispatched to an anonymous report of people cooking narcotics on the dirt field under a large tree in the area of Walsh Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets in Hamilton City. Deputy Ayres contacted a man, Martin Chavera of Hamilton City, in the described area who was drinking a beer. No drugs were being cooked. Michele Urrutia of Hamilton City was also an involved party.
8:47 p.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a welfare check on a juvenile. An anonymous reporting party thought the child was being abused. Deputy responded to Cedar Hills and contacted Patricia Garcia and her infant son. The child checked okay and was in good health and spirits. The deputy did not observe any signs of distress or sanitary issues. The complaint was determined to be unfounded.
8:50 p.m., Deputy Ayres was walking back to his patrol car after clearing a suspicious circumstance call when a blue sedan turned off of Fourth Street in Hamilton City onto the dirt field and stopped. The deputy contacted the driver, Hermelindo Selgado, whom he recognized from a booking photo and believed to still have a warrant. Selgado allegedly had an open container of beer in the vehicle and showed signs of being under the influence. Selgado was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The deputy took Selgado into custody. Selgado’s vehicle was towed from scene by Bambauer Towing. Selgado was turned over to jail staff for booking. Deputy Ayres found out that Selgado had two other warrants for his arrest, his driver’s license was allegedly suspended for driving while under the influence, that he was on formal probation as well as DUI court probation. Selgado was booked into the Glenn County Jail for allegedly driving with a suspended license (DUI), violation of probation, violation of DUI probation and for disobeying a court order.
11:27 p.m., Lynn Head reported her husband just arrived home, bleeding from his nose and saying he was assaulted. Deputies contacted Lynn and her husband, Michael Head, of 4222 County Road K, Orland. Michael Head was allegedly determined to be in violation of public intoxication and disobeying a court order. He was arrested and taken to Glenn Medical Center for medical clearance for booking. After clearance, he was booked into the Glenn County Jail.
Tuesday, May 25:
3:19 a.m., Lara Villalobos reported a suspicious circumstance at 834 Edgewater Drive in Hamilton City. Villalobos reported an unknown man was at the front door of her residence, knocking and trying to open the door. Deputies responded and searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone in the area. The caller was unable to provide any description of the man.
5:05 a.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a report of a woman trespassing at the Glenn Medical Center parking lot. Deputies contacted Ruth Word, who was counseled and agreed to move along. Deputy Thompson stood by until Word left the premise.
8:09 a.m., Gregory Loewen of Willows contacted Glenn County Communications to report his adult sister-in-law was missing and at risk. Deputy Cordova contacted Gregory, who said the victim had been missing since about 11 p.m. on May 24. A report was taken and the victim was entered into the Missing and Unidentified Persons System (MUPS). Sgt. Owens was notified of the circumstances and the Glenn County Search and Rescue was activated to assist in searching the area, along with multiple members of the community who had shown up to help on their own. The woman was located miles from her home, was non-verbal and dehydrated. It was determined that she had been walking for about 15 hours, had not eaten for days, and was gravely disabled. Sgt. Owens detained the woman pursuant to 5150 W&I. The woman was transported to Glenn Medical Center for care and turned over to Glenn County Mental Health.
9:01 a.m., Willows firefighters, Enloe paramedics, and deputies were dispatched to a reported traffic collision in the area of South Tehama and Fern Streets in Willows. Deputies arrived and contacted Hunter Beales, 18, of Alameda, who was uninjured. Beales said he was traveling south on South Tehama Street at 55 miles per hour when a gust of wind caused him to lose control of his 2008 Jeep Wrangler and collide with a 12-inch Cal-Water main supply pipe, causing water to geyser into the air. Representatives with CalWater responded and estimated the damages to be about $10,000. CalWater representatives were able to temporarily stop the leak but said it may need additional repairs. Deputies assisted in an exchange of information. Beales’ Jeep sustained heavy damage and was towed L&T Towing of Willows.
9:37 a.m., Deputy Tuma was dispatched to a report of found narcotics at the Dollar Tree in Willows. Deputy Tuma responded and the suspected methamphetamine was collected, to be booked into Glenn County Sheriff’s evidence in Willows for destruction.
10:04 a.m., Donna Moore of Orland called and reported vandalism to her irrigation stand pipe. Deputy Lemmon was dispatched and contacted Moore, who said an unknown person spray painted gang slurs on the stand pipe. Moore was unsure on the cost of the paint to cover the graffiti.
11:21 a.m., Carol Owen of Orland called and reported two people had entered her tenant’s residence. Deputy Lemmon contacted Owen, who said her tenant was currently in custody and she noticed the tenant’s son at the residence. Owen said the son and his friends were removing items from inside the residence. Owen said she was in the process to evict the tenant. Owens said the son and his friends came three hours prior to contacting law enforcement.
12:16 p.m., Darci Amaral of Cupertino contacted Glenn County Communications from out of the area and reported a suspicious man and woman on her property (4720 County Road E), in Orland. Deputies responded and conducted a search of the property and the immediate area, but did not observe any suspicious activity and found the residence to be locked and secured.
12:35 p.m., deputies received a report of a vehicle in a ditch at County Roads F and 62. Deputies responded and assisted on scene until no longer needed by CHP officers, medical personnel, or firefighters. The victim was listed as Renee Dehaven of Willows.
12:54 p.m., deputies were dispatched to an anonymous report of a domestic disturbance coming from 904 North Butte Street, sp. #11, Willows. Deputies contacted George Walker at space #11 and Alan Kyler at space #9. Both Walker and Kyler denied there being a disturbance at their residences. Deputies checked both residences and did not note any signs of a disturbance.
1:35 p.m., Nancy Wilson called and reported a man on her property in Hamilton City, refusing to leave. Wilson said the man’s name was Steven. Deputies responded to the residence and contacted multiple people there. All the people said the person causing the disturbance was Jose Rosas, who had left the residence prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies conducted an area check but were unable to locate Rosas.
2:06 p.m., Rosa Betancourt of Willows contacted Glenn County Communications and requested to speak with a deputy regarding an issue she reported in April of 2020. Deputy Cordova contacted Betancourt via telephone, as requested. Betancourt was updated on her previous call for service and provided information on restraining order processes.
3 p.m., Ryan Ash of Orland called to report he found an odd application on his cell phone. Deputy Lemmon responded to the residence and contacted Ash, who said he recently received a free cell phone from company in Orland. Ash said he found an odd application and requested assistance. Deputy Lemmon looked at the cell phone and was unable to locate any applications that were not supposed to be on the cell phone. Ash was advised to call the cell phone providers tech support for further information.
3:53 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 200 Sierra Avenue in Hamilton City, for a report a verbal disturbance between Martin Chavera and Jose Rosas. Deputies responded, contacted Rosas in the front yard, and discovered Chavera had left prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies noted Rosas allegedly displayed objective symptoms of intoxication during the investigation. Deputies determined Rosas was too intoxicated to care for the safety of himself or care for the safety of others. Rosas submitted to a PAS test, which showed Rosas had a .240 percent blood alcohol level, three times the legal limit for driving. Rosas was arrested for alleged public intoxication and transported to the Glenn County Jail, to be released once sober.
4:28 p.m., deputies responded to 4578 County Road E in Orland for a report of a cold burglary. Deputies arrived and contacted the caller, Mackenzi Parkinson, who had several items taken from the residence, including three handguns. The caller was unable to provide any possible suspects.
5:34 p.m., Glenn Medical Center staff reported a possible cold domestic violence incident, which occurred within the previous two weeks at an unknown hotel in Willows. GMC staff said they spoke with the possible victim in the afternoon hours and she was adamant she did not want law enforcement notified. Deputies were notified of the alleged incident and attempted to contact staff to gather further information. Deputies discovered the staff member left for the day and were unable to conduct an interview. Deputies were able to gather the victim’s phone number and attempted to contact her via telephone. Deputies did not receive an answer and left a voicemail message requesting a call back. Deputies did not locate any restraining orders, vehicles registered to them or a physical address.
7:35 p.m., Eric Leon requested to speak with a deputy regarding a fraud report. Deputy Ayres contacted Leon, who reported someone opened an account in his name about one year ago. Leon did not have enough information for the deputy to take a full report. The incident was documented until he calls back.
7:51 p.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to contact Krista Abbott of Willows regarding suspicious vehicles parked on the side of County Road J 1/2. The deputy contacted Abbott, who reported an ongoing issue of people parking alongside the road. Abbott requested information regarding keeping her property safe. Deputy provided Abbott with options regarding cameras and lighting. Abbott was advised to contact law enforcement if she noticed further suspicious activity. Extra patrol was requested.
Wednesday, May 26:
6:50 a.m., Jody Meza of Orland contacted Glenn County Communications and reported an aggressive dog lunging at her near 4097 County Road HH, Orland. Deputies responded to the area and contacted Meza at a nearby intersection. She informed them the dog was still at the reported residence. Deputies contacted the dog’s owners, Juana Ramirez and Benjamin Gamino, who already secured the canine. All involved parties were told Glenn County Animal Control officers would contact them at a later time to conduct an investigation.
10:14 a.m., Hank Book with Willows Care Center, 320 North Crawford Avenue, contacted the sheriff’s office, reporting the expected death of Dean Martindale, 70, of Redding. Book said the decedent entered comfort care on May 21 and was diagnosed with pre-existing medical conditions. The decedent’s wife and next of kin, Betty Martindale of Redding, was contacted by the sheriff’s office and was already aware of the decedent’s death. Allen & Dahl Funeral Home of Redding was contacted and the decedent was released into their care.
12:23 p.m., Oliva Spangle of Susanville contacted Glenn County Communications and requested assistance locating her 17-year-old daughter. Spangle said her daughter ran away from home and was last seen in Susanville with Ashley Kilian, in a white BMW sedan. Spangle reported the incident to local law enforcement and requested deputies check Kilian’s address in Orland, for her daughter. Deputies responded to the address and contacted Ashley Killian’s father, John Kilian, who was able to contact Ashley via telephone. Deputies spoke with Ashley Kilian and the 17-year-old girl over the phone and were able to discover they were in the Redding area. Deputies obtained Ashley Kilian’s current cellphone number and forwarded all other information to the original agency.
12:45 p.m., Ana Raygoza contacted Glenn County Communications and reported mail was stolen from her residence in Orland. Deputies responded and contacted Raygoza, who said a paycheck from ARC, in Chico, was stolen from her residence between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Raygoza said the check was a payroll check and was between $1,000 and $1,200. Raygoza said she was in the process of contacting her employer to stop and re-issue the check. Raygoza believed one of the other tenants at her property may be involved, but wanted to wait to hear back from her employer before deputies contacted them.
1:07 p.m., Linda Montz of Willows contacted the sheriff’s office, reporting a van was parked on her property and she requested they be moved along. Deputy Tuma contacted Montz, who said she already spoke with the van driver and no longer needed sheriff’s office assistance in the matter.
2:58 p.m., while at 3992 Highway 99 for a separate call for service, Deputy Cordova observed Sonia Sanchez in the driveway of the residence. Deputy Cordova had prior knowledge Sanchez had an outstanding felony warrant issued for her arrest, out of Glenn County. Deputy Cordova contacted Sanchez and confirmed the warrant via Glenn County Communications. Sanchez was arrested without incident and transported to the Glenn County Jail, where she was turned over to jail staff for booking. Bail was set at $100,000.
3:42 p.m., Manuel Robledo of Glenn contacted the sheriff’s office, requesting to speak to a deputy regarding someone not returning his speakers to him. Deputy Tuma spoke with Robledo over the phone. Robledo said he let Isaac Juarez of Willows borrow two of his Sony speakers about two weeks earlier and he had not returned them yet. Robledo was unable to provide proof of ownership for the speakers and he was advised to contact the civil court. Deputy Tuma attempted to contact Juarez as well but did not receive an answer and was unable to leave a voicemail.
6:45 p.m., Robert Mcgarr of Willows reported two silver sedans speeding in the area of South Villa Avenue and West Laurel Street, in Willows, and requested a check of the area. Deputy Ramirez responded and searched the area, but did not locate any vehicles matching the description.
Thursday, May 27:
1:06 a.m., deputies contacted Scott Beavers and Wendy Ward in front of Circle K. Both were found to have local warrants for their arrests and were taken into custody. Their vehicle was turned over to a valid driver per their request.
2:06 a.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to contact Lynn Head of Orland regarding her husband leaving their residence in a vehicle. The deputy contacted Lynn Head, who said her husband, Michael Head, had not left the property and was in a travel trailer. Lynn Head did not request any further law enforcement assistance.
4:53 a.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance in Butte City. Deputies responded to the area and contacted Jennifer Gilbert, who reported she was in an altercation with her boyfriend, Ronald Filkins of Oroville, earlier in the night. Gilbert reported Filkins left the apartment he shared with Gilbert, then later returned. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate Filkins.
10:04 a.m., Charles Newton of Willows requested to speak with a deputy regarding speeders and vehicles with loud exhausts driving by his house in Willows. Deputy Goodwin contacted Newton, who stated he lives at the corner of Wood Street and North Plumas Street. Newton stated people drive down Wood Street at high speeds with loud exhausts day and night. Newton requested extra patrol and traffic enforcement in the area.
11:03 a.m., Dennis Etchieson of Orland contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle on his property had been stolen a few months ago. Deputy Chavez contacted Etchieson by telephone as requested. Etchieson said a 1985 Ford Escort was given to him by a friend but it was taken and transferred to Robert Hammond of Orland. Etchieson said he never transferred the vehicle into his name when he was given the vehicle because he was only going to use the car for parts. The vehicle is currently registered to Hammond. Etchieson was provided information regarding the civil courts and the process to file a claim.
11:38 a.m., an anonymous caller contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request a welfare check on Tabitha Rubio’s child. Deputy Chavez was dispatched and responded to Hamilton City. Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate Rubio or the child.
11:52 a.m., Anna Hemstalk of Oroville contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report her juvenile daughter was being abused. Deputy Chavez contacted Hemstalk by telephone, as requested. During the investigation, Deputy Chavez learned the incident had already been reported and referred to Butte County Child Protective Services (CPS). Hemstalk was provided with additional resources.
12:08 p.m., an anonymous caller reported there was a disturbance between a man, his girlfriend, and the girlfriend’s mother, in the parking lot of 601 North Tehama Street in Willows. The caller said the man was yelling at his girlfriend and pushed the girlfriend’s mother. Deputy Goodwin responded and contacted two women. The women were identified as Leandra Joseph of Willows and Linda Joseph of Artois. Linda Joseph stated there was a verbal dispute between Leandra Joseph and her boyfriend, Steven Woods of Orland. Woods had already left the area. Leandra Joseph confirmed the dispute was verbal only. A records check showed Leandra Joseph had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest out of Glenn County. She was subsequently arrested for the warrant and transported to the Glenn County Jail, where she was booked.
1:01 p.m., Tim Reimer of Willows turned in a counterfeit $20 bill to the sheriff’s office. Deputy Goodwin took possession of the counterfeit bill and booked it into evidence, to be sent to the U.S. Secret Service.
1:27 p.m., the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address in Willows conduct a welfare check for possible suicidal ideation. The Glenn County Crisis Team responded and conducted an assessment. After an investigation, the person did not meet criteria to be placed on an involuntary hold.
2:15 p.m., an anonymous caller reported Haley Ruth Word was trespassing at 141 North Crawford Avenue in Willows, after the property was condemned. Deputy Goodwin was dispatched. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, it was learned the house was condemned but the residents could still be at the property.
4:38 p.m., Shawn Foley of Orland contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report his ex-wife, Sabrina Palmer-Foley of Orland, took his truck and would not return it. Deputy Chavez contacted Foley by telephone as requested. Foley said the truck was in both of their names but was awarded to him as part of their divorce agreement. Foley did not want to report the truck as stolen and was provided with information and resources to assist him. Foley requested the incident be documented.
6:24 p.m., while on patrol, Deputy McIntyre observed a four-wheeler traveling west on County Road 200. The person riding the four-wheeler was not wearing a helmet. Deputy McIntyre conducted a traffic stop on the four-wheeler and contacted Jose Cisneros-Rodriguez of Orland. He was found to have suspended driver’s license. Cisneros-Rodriguez was cited and released on his signed promise to appear. The four wheeler was towed and stored by Bambauer Towing.
7:47 p.m., Deputy Huichapan responded to an address on County Road D in Orland for a cross reference report. Deputy Huichapan contacted the confidential victim and initiated an on-scene investigation. After an on-scene investigation, Deputy Huichapan learned the crime occurred out of Glenn County jurisdiction (Pierce County, Wash.). Deputy Huichapan took a courtesy report and forwarded it to the proper law enforcement agency.
10:43 p.m., Linda Milstead of Orland requested to speak with a deputy via phone regarding fraud. Deputy McIntyre spoke with Milstead, who said a person helped her with signing up for the pandemic relief fund and while using her phone the person changed all her passwords. Milstead was only able to provide the first name of the person. Milstead also said someone stole her EBT card and used some of her funds. Milstead was unable to provide an amount used on the EBT card or where it was used. Milstead was advised to obtain this information.
Friday, May 28:
2:23 a.m., Victoria Navarro of Willows reported an unknown man shining a flashlight into the backyard of her South Lassen Street residence during the night, and requested a deputy to respond. Deputy Lourenzo responded and conducted an extensive search of the area for the man but was ultimately unable to locate him.
9:31 a.m., deputies responded to 240 Sacramento Avenue in Hamilton City regarding a white female adult with white hair wearing a black t-shirt trespassing on the property. Deputies arrived on scene and located Sally May Douglas, who matched the description. Deputies told Douglas of the complaint and Douglas agreed to move along.
10:03 a.m., David Smith of Orland contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to have a citation signed off. Deputy Chavez contacted Smith in the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office lobby. Deputy Chavez determined Smith did not have the current proof of insurance and was not able to sign off the citation. Smith was told to return once he had the correct paperwork.
11:57 a.m., Willows Care Center, 320 North Crawford Avenue, called and reported the expected death of Sandra Lee Wyrick, 72. Wyrick suffered from pre-existing medical conditions and entered into comfort care on May 20. Next of kin, Michael Bodine of Broken Bow, Okla., was notified of the death. The decedent was released to the care of the Hall Brothers Mortuary in Corning.
12:06 p.m., Coulette Castle contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report Peter Lopez of Artois was upset with the service he received at Tractor Supply in Willows and made threats towards staff. Deputy Chavez contacted Castle by telephone, as requested. Castle requested Lopez be counseled on his behavior. Deputy Chavez determined the threats were not criminal and counseled Lopez on his behavior.
1:49 p.m., Steven Fuller contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report his Willows home had been broken into. Deputy Chavez responded and contacted Fuller at the 451 North Plumas residence. Deputy Chavez initiated in investigation.
2:26 p.m., an anonymous caller contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report a Hispanic male adult was in the Ace Hardware parking lot in Willows, exposing his lower anatomy. Deputy Chavez responded and conducted an extensive area search but was not able to locate anyone in the area matching the description.
2:45 p.m., Silvia Gonzalez Melendres of Orland requested assistance with her adult son, Alejandro Melendres Serrano of Orland, who was causing a disturbance at their residence. Deputy Rasmussen responded and contacted the involved parties. Gonzlaez said Melendres was being disrespectful and aggressive toward her and she wished for him to leave the residence. Melendres did not wish to speak about the situation with his mother but agreed to leave the residence until things calmed down. The incident was settled by separation. Gonzalez was advised of possible civil remedies if Melendres returned and refused to leave.
3:45 p.m., Benjamin Alcantara of Orland contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request a citation be signed off. Deputy Chavez responded. Deputy Chavez verified the violation was corrected and signed off the citation.
3:49 p.m., Glenn County Child Protective Services (CPS) staff contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request assistance with a welfare check. Deputies responded but were not able to contact the parties involved. Deputies assisted CPS until no longer needed.
4:18 p.m., deputies responded to County Road 20 near County Road M regarding a suspicious vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 1995 Saturn partially parked in the roadway. Deputies were unable to locate anyone responsible for the vehicle. Bambauer Towing responded and took possession of the vehicle.
4:24 p.m., Bay Alarm reported a motion alarm activation at 990 North Butte Street in Willows. Deputies responded and searched the property. The property was found to be secure and nothing suspicious was noted.
4:58 p.m., Amie Price of Willows contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report she was assaulted by her husband, Donald Price of Willows. Deputy Chavez responded and initiated an investigation. Deputy Chavez was able to determine Donald Price had allegedly assaulted Amie Price. Donald Price was placed under arrest and transported to the Glenn County Jail and booked by jail staff.
4:59 p.m., Fernando De Jesus called the sheriff’s office and requested a deputy due to his son, Misael De Jesus, causing a disturbance at their residence in Hamilton City. Deputy Turner responded and met with Fernando De Jesus, who said Misael broke a window and then left after wanting money. Fernando De Jesus refused to pursue any criminal charges against Misael and Deputy Turner referred Fernando De Jesus to the Orland Courthouse for restraining order information.
7:24 p.m., an anonymous female requested a welfare check on a dog that was inside a white Chevy Equinox at the Subway parking lot in Orland. Deputy Huichapan responded but the vehicle was gone.
7:53 p.m., Madelyn Coffman of Willows requested to speak with a deputy regarding Steven Trimmer of Willows harassing her via phone. Deputy McIntyre spoke with Coffman, who alleged Trimmer was intoxicated and was continuously calling her. Deputy McIntyre provided Coffman with restraining order information regarding the harassment. Deputy McIntyre determined Trimmer had been released from the Glenn County Jail on his own recognizance with search/test stipulations for alcohol. Deputy McIntyre contacted Trimmer and determined he was in violation of the court order. Trimmer was arrested for alleged violation of a court order and booked into the Glenn County jail.
11:46 p.m., Christa Martinez of Orland reported her brother, Aaron Ripley of Red Bluff, was texting her and told her he was near her residence. Martinez requested a deputy respond and conduct an area check. Deputy Huichapan responded to the area of County Roads HH and 21 in Orland and contacted Ripley, who spoke with Deputy Huichapan. An on-scene investigation was initiated. Glenn County Communications told Deputy Huichapan that Ripley was on parole. Deputy Huichapan searched Ripley with his consent and removed a pocket knife with a blade longer than two inches from Ripley’s front left pants pocket. Deputy Huichapan contacted Parole Agent White and informed him of his findings. Parole Agent White placed a parole hold on Ripley. Ripley was placed under arrest and transported to the Glenn County Jail, where he was released to the care and custody of jail staff.
11:57 p.m., while on routine patrol, Deputy Lourenzo observed a red Hyundai Elantra traveling north on North Tehama Street in Willows. The Hyundai was unable to maintain its lane and crossed the solid double yellow lines into the southbound lane twice. Deputy Lourenzo conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, who identified himself as Erick Duran of Willows. Duran allegedly displayed objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence, and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. Duran performed several field sobriety tests and submitted to a preliminary alcohol screening (PAS) which allegedly presented blood alcohol levels above the legal limit. Duran was subsequently placed under arrest, transported, and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
Saturday, May 29:
12:41 a.m., Deputy McIntyre was dispatched to 17 Donnie Lane on an anonymous report regarding loud music. Upon arrival, contact was made with Adolfo Corona, who was told of the complaint. Corona agreed to keep the music down or turn it off for the night.
1:40 a.m., Troy Olivarez requested to speak with a deputy regarding the cold theft of mail. Deputy Huichapan contacted Olivarez via telephone, as requested. Olivarez told Deputy Huichapan that an unknown person stole mail from his mailbox in Orland. Olivarez was unsure what mail was in his mailbox but said he saw an unknown person take something out of his mailbox. Olivarez did not have any suspect information or surveillance video. Olivarez believed the suspect was associated with a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan, but had no further information.
4:21 a.m., Deputy Huichapan was dispatched to the Orland Cemetery on County Road P for an alarm activation. Deputy Huichapan responded and conducted a check of the area but did not observe anything suspicious. He made sure the building was secure.
5:17 a.m., Deputy McIntyre was dispatched to the Diamond gas station in Willows on a report of a broken window. Contact was made with Maria Cardenas of Willows, who said sometime between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., someone through a rock and broke a window. No entry was made into the business.
7:51 a.m., Mike Landini of Willows contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report a man wearing a plaid shirt was walking on Highway 162, carrying a rifle. Deputy Chavez responded and contacted Cory Bostjancic, who said he was hunting and got lost. Deputy Chavez provided Bostjancic with a courtesy ride to the Willows residence where he was staying.
12:51 p.m., Natisa Pfyl of Willows called the sheriff’s office and reported an unknown person driving on the grass at Jensen Park and requested law enforcement. Deputy Turner responded and observed a large family gathering at Jensen Park. Deputy Turner spoke with several people on scene and told them of the complaint. Deputy Turner left the scene due to a priority call for service.
2:38 p.m., the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to request assistance with a welfare check on Melvin Young of Willows. Deputy Chavez responded and contacted Young, who said he was having a medical emergency and requested medical assistance. Enloe Ambulance arrived and transported Young to the Willows Airport, where Enloe FlightCare transported him to Enloe Hospital in Chico.
4:28 p.m., Martha Rodriguez of Willows contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report she had been in a traffic collision in the Walmart parking lot in Willows. Deputies responded. There were no injuries and both parties, Rodriguez and Ardee Johnson of Grants Pass, Ore., exchange information.
5:23 p.m., Steven Denton reported an unknown male suspect was following him around town and threatening to physically assault him. Deputies responded to the Diamond gas station in Willows and contacted Denton, who allegedly displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputies spoke with Denton, who said the unknown male suspect was accusing him of taking his property. Denton said he did not know who the suspect was. Deputies did not locate anyone else in the immediate area and learned the man was gone on their arrival. Deputies conducted a drug evaluation on Denton and determined he was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance. Denton was placed under arrest, to be released when sober. Due to Denton having medical complications, he was transported to Glenn Medical Center and released to their care and custody.
6:23 p.m., Arturo Valdes requested to speak with a deputy regarding a cold theft. Deputy Huichapan responded to 690 North Butte Street in Willows and contacted Valdes, who told him an unknown suspect stole the car battery, registration, and pink slip from his unlocked gray 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Valdes believed the theft occurred sometime between May 23 through May 29 and estimated the total monetary loss at about $120. Valdes did not have any suspect information and Deputy Huichapan did not observe anything unusual in the area.
7:07 p.m., the CHP requested assistance with the detention of subjects who were involved in a vehicle pursuit in Hamilton City. Deputy Lourenzo responded to Highway 32 and County Road VV and assisted CHP Officers until no longer needed.
8:11 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 1667 County Road Y in Butte City regarding a 911 hang-up. Glenn County Communications said they heard a child screaming in the background before the call dropped. Deputies responded and contacted Cindy Gutierrez and Jesus Romo. Gutierrez said she called 911 because her juvenile son was choking on a Lego. Gutierrez and Romo were able to successfully remove the Lego piece from the child’s mouth and rendered him safe. Deputies saw and spoke with the child and determined he was safe. Deputies did not observe anything indicating a disturbance or crime had taken place.
9:23 p.m., Cole Entz of Willows requested to speak with a deputy regarding threats. Deputy Huichapan contacted Entz via telephone, as requested. Entz told Deputy Huichapan that Zachary Boster was texting him and threatening to send the Hells Angels to his residence. Entz told Deputy Huichapan he was not in fear and knew Boster did not have the ability to do that. After speaking with Entz, Deputy Huichapan determined the elements for criminal threats were not met. Deputy Huichapan provide Entz with information regarding a restraining order and suggested Entz block Boster’s phone number on his device.
10:14 p.m., deputies responded to an address on County Road 20 in Orland for a noise complaint. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the homeowner, Ricardo Pinedo, and told him of the complaint. Pinedo agreed to turn the music down for the remainder of the night.
11:15 p.m., an anonymous woman reported a verbal disturbance at 672 North Murdock Avenue in Willows. The anonymous woman reported she could hear Shawn Van Gieson of Willows yelling at an unknown woman. Deputies responded and attempted to contact the parties involved at the residence, without success. Deputies conducted an extensive area check but were unable to locate Van Gieson.
