A Bakersfield man suffered major injuries after he was thrown from his car Thursday evening west of Orland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at about 7 p.m. on Oct. 7, Alejandro Melendres, 33, of Bakersfield, was driving a 2007 Honda Civic west on County Road 7, west of County Road DD, at a high rate of speed.
Melendres allowed the Honda to leave the roadway and crash into a fence.
After the crash, the Honda overturned several times and Melendres was ejected from the vehicle.
Melendres was flown by helicopter to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for major internal injuries.
It is not known whether he was wearing his seatbelts at the time of the accident.
While on-scene, CHP Officer Price placed Melendres under arrest for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Bail was set at $10,000. She was taken into custody at the Newville Road overpass at Interstate 5 by an Orland police officer.
2:35 a.m., Krishnakant Hasmukhlal Ramdas, 33, a clerk who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging disobeying a court order (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $7,000. He was taken into custody at Newville Road and Tehama Street by an Orland police officer.
7:02 a.m., Noah Ryan Coats, 39, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing or resisting a public service officer (all misdemeanors), and warrants alleging corporal injury on a spouse with priors, false imprisonment, a special allegation, and possession of a firearm by a felon (all felonies). Total bail was set at $205,000, but he was also held without bail for a charge alleging violation of parole (a felony). 10:14 a.m., Stephen Kraig Green, 50, a painter who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging escaping from jail while charged with a felony (a felony). At 11 a.m., he was committed to the jail without bail for felony violation of probation.
