
Here are the sentencings in the Glenn County Superior Court for the period between Friday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Dec. 10, as reported by the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office and other sources.
People v. David John Carlile – Defendant was convicted of indecent exposure with a prior offense. He was sentenced to 32 months in prison. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Alves.
People v. Fred Andrew Sprague – Defendant was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender upon moving. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Dwayne Stewart, with assistance from Orland Police Officer Flores.
People v. Ruben Williams – Defendant was previously convicted of felony second degree burglary and was found in violation of post-release community supervision (PRCS) for the fourth time. He was sentenced to 240 days in jail and PRCS was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Perry.
People v. Joshua Waldorp – Defendant was convicted of felony failure to appear on a felony and misdemeanor grand theft. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and a consecutive 270 days suspended on two years’ probation. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Stewart.
It is hard to tell, but this case may involve an incident from May 29, 2018. At about 3:35 p.m., Mike Vereschagin called the sheriff’s office to report he had caught several people stealing diesel fuel from his orchard on County Road 30. Vereschagin said he was currently following the suspect vehicle west on County Road 30. Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a stop. Paige Floyd, Travis Banghart and Joshua Waldorp were subsequently arrested for the theft as well as possession of burglary tools, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
People v. Dale Taylor – Defendant was previously convicted of felony possession of ammunition by a felon was found in violation of post-release community supervision (PRCS) for the fifth time. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and PRCS was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Stewart, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Perry.
At about 10:41 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2021, on Interstate 5, south of Highway 162, Deputy Turner conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a 2001 Lexus Is300 for vehicle code violations. Deputy Turner contacted two occupants inside the vehicle, Dale Taylor and Shannon Marshall. A records check revealed both Taylor and Marshall had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Glenn County Communications confirmed Taylor’s no-bail felony warrant and Marshall’s $7,000 bail misdemeanor warrant. Taylor and Marshall were placed under arrest and transported to the Glenn County jail for booking.
Taylor’s no-bail felony warrant may have involved an incident from Oct. 26, 2018. On that date, a search warrant was served at the home of Dawn Denice Gilbert, 405 A Street, Orland. Taylor, then 57, was arrested there on charges alleging possession of a controlled substance for sale, violation of probation, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (all felonies), and a warrant alleging failure to obey a lawful order of the court (a felony). Also arrested was Shannon Eva Marshall-Rupert, then-48, on charges alleging possession of a controlled substance for sale (a felony). Gilbert was not arrested at the Oct. 26, 2018, incident, but less than two weeks later she was arrested and later convicted of possession of controlled substance paraphernalia (a misdemeanor) at an incident involving a report of a drive-by shooting on County Road 23 between Highway 99 and Interstate 5.
People v. Joel Madrigal Cardenas – Defendant was convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon (a car), and misdemeanor court probation for reckless driving. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years’ probation. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Tuma.
According to the Glenn County Jail bookings, at about 11:02 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020, Joel Cardenas Madrigal, then 30, of Orland, was booked into the jail on charges alleging assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm) with great bodily injury likely (a felony), infliction of corporal injury on a spouse (a felony), and possession of a controlled substance (a misdemeanor). He was taken into custody at the Speedway gas station on South Street in Orland by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy. The Observer could find to record of this incident in the sheriff’s logs for this date.
People v. Stewart Enck – Defendant was previously convicted of felony auto theft and was found in violation of probation. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
People v. Colton Smith – Defendant was previously convicted of felony auto theft and was found in violation of probation. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
According to the Glenn County Jail bookings, at about 1:14 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Smith was booked into the jail on charges alleging vehicle theft (a felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor). He was taken into custody on Walker Street at A Street, Orland, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.
People v. Debra Shoemaker – Defendant was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery and was found in violation of probation for the third time. She was sentenced to 90 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Permann.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s logs, at about 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2020, Cassandra Custer called from 6882 County Road 6 near Orland to report Debra Shoemaker had threatened her and battered Bobby Hendry. Deputies arrived and conducted a domestic battery investigation. Shoemaker was arrested for domestic battery.
People v. Pamela Rafoth – Defendant was convicted of misdemeanor violation of a restraining order. She was sentenced to 90 days in jail. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Rasmussen.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s logs, at about 9:31 a.m. on Sept. 30, 2021, Kathy Boyle reported a restraining order violation and requested to speak with a deputy. Deputy Lourenzo responded and contacted Boyle, who alleged Pamela Rafoth, Boyle’s sister, had called her twice while incarcerated in the Glenn County Jail, which was in violation of a no-contact restraining order. An investigation was initiated and Deputy Lourenzo determined Rafoth did violate the restraining order. Rafoth was placed under arrest for the crime and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
People v. Ruth Word – Defendant was previously convicted of various misdemeanors, and was found in violation of probation. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Permann.
People v. Matthew Fleming – Defendant was previously convicted of felony failure to appear on a felony and was found in violation of probation. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
People v. Collin Outland – Defendant was convicted of misdemeanor possession of heroin. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and one year’s probation. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Orland Police Officer Lowery.
According to the Orland police logs, at about 2:43 a.m. on March 16 of this year, an Orland police officer found a green 1998 Honda Accord stopped at the stop sign at Stanton Way and Stony Creek Drive, with the driver apparently asleep at the wheel. Officers contacted Collin Outland, 28, of Orland. Following an evaluation, Outland was arrested and booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of heroin.
People v. Odell McMorris Jr. – Defendant was convicted of a misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Orland Police Officer Carmon.
According to the Orland police logs, at about 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2020, an Orland police officer contacted Odell McMorris, 54, of Orland, at the Orland Liberty Gas and Food Mart, 506 Sixth Street. McMorris was arrested and booked into the Glenn County Jail for three Glenn County warrants and possession of methamphetamine.
People v. Bryan Boone – Defendant was convicted of felony possession of a billy club and was found in violation of probation for the second time. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s logs, at about 11:29 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2020, while on routine patrol in Willows, Deputy Lourenzo contacted Bryan Boone inside of a GMC pickup parked in the old McDonald’s parking lot at 236 North Humboldt Avenue. Boone was found to be on probation through Glenn County with searchable stipulations. Deputy Lourenzo conducted a search of Boone’s person and vehicle and located narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia, and a billy club. Boone was ultimately placed under arrest for narcotics charges, possession of a billy club, and violation of probation. Boone was transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail.
People v. Rafael Marron-Cendejas – Defendant was convicted of a misdemeanor driving while under the influence of alcohol with a prior DUI, and a violation of probation in another DUI case. He was sentenced to 50 days in jail and three years’ probation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ruby Neumann, with assistance from Orland Police Sergeant Johnson.
According to the Orland Police Logs, at about 11:08 a.m. on Aug. 4, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a white 2002 Ford Ranger on Tehama Street. Following an investigation, Rafael Marron-Cendejas, 59, of Orland, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a license suspended for driving while under the influence, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. He was transported/booked into the Glenn County Jail. The Ford was towed and stored by Bambauer Towing.
People v. Reuben Barba – Defendant was previously convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon and was found in violation of probation for the first time. He was sentenced to three years in prison. This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Stewart, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Moize.
According to the Orland Police Logs, at about 6:49 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2015, Orland police officers responded to 1084 Date Street for a report of an assault. Kacey Barba, then 32, said she was assaulted with a baseball bat by her brother-in-law, Reuben Barba, then 29. Reuben Barba was later located and arrested.
People v. Mary Leste – Defendant was previously convicted of felony bringing drugs into a jail and was found in violation of probation for the seventh time. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s logs, at about 8:25 a.m. on April 15, 2019, while being released from the Glenn County Jail, Mary Leste was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in the jail (a felony). She was booked into the jail.
People v. Philip Monroe Pedro – Defendant was previously convicted of felony carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and was found in violation of probation for the first time. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s logs, at about 3:49 a.m. on Aug. 28, 2019, Deputy Garcia contacted Raschell Wammack and Philip Pedro in the alley of Fourth and Third Streets, south of Walker Street in Orland. After further investigation, Deputy Garcia discovered Pedro to have a fixed blade knife concealed in his front left pocket. Deputy Garcia arrested Pedro for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger on his person. Deputy Garcia transported Pedro to the Glenn County Jail, where he was later booked.
People v. Joshua Morris – Defendant was convicted of felony possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, and possession of marijuana for sale. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, drug court, and two years’ probation. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Willows CHP Officer Williams.
People v. Angel Bush – Defendant was convicted of misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to 90 days jail. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Chavez.
People v. Felipe Cortes – Defendant was previously convicted of felony possession of methamphetamine and was found in violation of probation for the fifth time. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Coffey, with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s log, at about 8:17 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2020, Deputy Lourenzo responded to 435 South Shasta Street in Willows for a report of a man trespassing on the property. Upon arrival, deputies contacted Felipe Cortes. Deputies found methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe on Cortes’ person, both of which he admitted to being paraphernalia and belonging to him. Deputy Lourenzo subsequently placed Cortes under arrest, transported him, and booked him into the Glenn County Jail.
