A barn north of Orland burned to the ground early Saturday afternoon.

The call went out between 12:30 and 1 p.m.

The barn was located off County Road O, near County Road 6.

The Orland Fire Department responded initially.

Before its fire chief arrived at the scene, mutual aid from the Capay Fire Department was requested.

There was a strong breeze coming from the south.

A burn pile had been set just south of the barn.

Chief Justin Chaney believed the wind blew embers over to the barn, catching it on fire.

The barn was reportedly “on the ground” when firefighters arrived at the scene.
