Body found in Sacramento River

A body was found in the Sacramento River Sunday afternoon.

The corpse was that of a woman, but little more beyond that is known.

Apparently, nothing was found that could immediately identify the woman, and for now she is just being referred to as “Jane Doe”.

The report was initially received from a Chris Perondi, who, according to his Facebook page, is an Oroville firefighter.

The Glenn County Sheriff’s log item says he lives in Chico.

The body was reportedly found in the river near County Road 29.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office initially responded but determined the body was in Glenn County.

Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Tuma was dispatched and began a coroner’s investigation.

The decedent was released into the care of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary of Orland.

Claims two or three times removed from official sources state that the body had been in the water for a long period of time, perhaps weeks or months.

If true, this could be one of the reasons investigators could not identify the woman.
