Obituary: Ian Thomas Alves, 38

With his mother by his side, Ian Thomas Alves died peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. He was born in Chico to Sandra and Gregory T. Alves. On April 21, 1986.

From a young age, Ian showed his love for the outdoors, where he spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and playing outside in his grandmother MaryLu’s flower beds.

He idolized his father and grandfather, Basil Alves, Sr., often spending his time with them at work and in the fields.

That is where he grew a strong work ethic and later found his calling for welding. He continued to work in the ag industry and fish as often as possible.

He was intelligent and talented, in a lot of ways that he didn’t show others.

He loved fishing, any lake, stream, river, or pond. He was always after the big catch.

“Ian, we will always think of you in nature, where you found contentment and happiness,” say his loved ones.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra Alves; and his brother, Jeff Johnson.
