Obituary: Ray Alton Pearson, 77

Ray Alton Pearson died in Willows on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born in rural Duchesne, Utah, to Von and Deloras Pearson on June 2, 1947.

He grew up in Utah and enjoyed softball, baseball, basketball, golf, church activities, and cars. He attended college until he was drafted into the U.S. Army.

He served honorably in the U.S. military and trained and served in American tanks.

He met his future wife, Annette, and they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple “for time and all eternity” on May 8, 1970. Ray and Annette had seven children and were married for 54 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children and 18 grandchildren. He worked hard providing for his family.

He worked in construction as a mason and owned his own masonry company. Until his retirement, he later worked as a maintenance technician for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

As an avid golfer, he had 10 recorded holes in one and enjoyed playing golf when possible. He was a member of the Glenn Golf and Country Club and typically golfed three days a week in his retirement.

He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a bishop for the Willows Ward and served in many other church callings or positions.

He frequently used his talents in construction to help members of his community and church. He would willingly help repair roofs, leaky pipes, and various other home problems to serve those around him.

He is survived by his sons and daughters, Andrea (Jerry), Julie (Colby), Matthew (Mary), Jennifer (Keith), and Jeffrey (Anna); and brothers Rex and Devon. He was preceded in death by his children, Stacey and Stephanie; and brothers Leland, Leon, and Max.

Services were to be held on Friday, December 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Willows. The gravesite service was to be held after the church services, weather permitting.
