The Glenn County Sheriff-Coroner has released the identity of the man whose body was found Wednesday morning in an alleyway in Orland.

As reported earlier in The Glenn County Observer, at about 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 1, Orland police officers received a request for a welfare check for a man lying on the ground in the alley behind 514 Fourth Street.

Officers responded to the alleyway and found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

This morning, the man was identified as Bernabe Trenado Cruz, 33, of 367 Stonycreek Drive, Orland.

After Orland police officers found the body, Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy Emily Lourenzo responded to the scene. She confirmed the death and a coroner’s investigation was initiated.

Next of kin (Julissa Jeanette Trenado of 514 Fourth Street, Orland, and Rafael Trenado of 1082 Winterpine Drive, Orland) were notified of the death.

When the investigation was complete hours after the body was discovered, the decedent was released to the care of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary of Orland.

Cruz has had numerous encounters with law enforcement, both inside and outside of Glenn County. On Sept. 6 of this year, he was booked into the Glenn County Jail for a Tehama County warrant alleging willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (both felonies).

His bail was set at $45,000.

Obviously, Cruz had enemies. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and the Orland Police Department urges anybody with information about the incident to contact Sgt. Kyle Cessna at 530-865-1616.

The body of a man was found in an Orland alley Wednesday morning, Dec. 1.

At about 8:45 a.m., Orland police officers received a request for a welfare check for a man lying in the lane behind 514 Fourth Street, immediately to the south of the Hannah Reed home at 510 Fourth Street and immediately to the north of Penner’s Auto Service at 528 Fourth Street.

The alley runs north and south between Swift Street in the south and Tehama Street in the north, and between Fourth Street in the east and Fifth Street in the west.

Officers responded to the alleyway and found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Officers contacted the California Department of Justice Crime Lab, and an investigation was initiated.

Numerous Orland police officers were on the scene, as were some of Orland’s Volunteers In Police Service, or VIPS, posted to prevent members of the public from entering the crime scene. Sergeant Sean Johnson was also called in on his day off.

Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives were also dispatched to the alley.

From the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office, the D.A. himself, Dwayne Stewart, responded, as did Assistant District Attorney Ruby Neumann, and Chief Investigator Kelly Knight.

Police tape not only prevented access to the alley at the north and south ends, it also prevented access to the front of the house. One or more of the residents waited outside on the sidewalk near the street.

A car parked in the driveway of 514 Fourth Street was impounded. Two cell phones were reportedly inside the car, and the owner or owners asked if they could get the phones back.

It is not known if the police returned the phones.

This investigation is ongoing, and the Orland Police Department urges anybody with information about the incident to contact Sgt. Kyle Cessna at 530-865-1616.

Thursday, Nov. 25:

12:54 p.m., Adrian Aumont Lee, 31, a handyman who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on warrants alleging misdemeanor violation of probation, and felony robbery. Total bail was set at $107,000. He was taken into custody at 725 South Tehama Street, Willows, by an Orland police officer.

Friday, Nov. 26:

10:01 a.m., Michele Evelyn Urrutia, 47, a laborer who lives in Hamilton City, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. Bail was set at $13,000. She was taken into custody at 601 Sixth Street, Hamilton City, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

12:44 p.m., Maria Concepcion Paniagua, 42, a laborer who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $5,000. She was taken into custody at 810 North Humboldt Avenue, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

4:05 p.m., Darrin Kyle Smith, 37, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence (a misdemeanor), and a Butte County warrant alleging battery with serious bodily injury (a felony). Total bail was set at $62,500. He was taken into custody at Walker and East Streets by an Orland police officer.

7:27 p.m., Christopher Loyd Simpson, 27, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. Bail was set at $10,000. He was taken into custody at Walmart, 470 North Airport Road, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

10:15 p.m., Kiana Marie Lewis, 26, a sales representative who lives in Chico, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and driving while under the influence of alcohol (both misdemeanors). Bail was set at $10,000. She was taken into custody on Papst Avenue at East Swift Street by an Orland police officer.

Saturday, Nov. 27:

8:13 p.m., Latsamy Kangmeuang, 44, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging possession of a controlled substance (a misdemeanor), possession of marijuana for sale (a misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance for sale (a felony), transportation of a controlled substance for sale (a felony), obstructing or resisting a public service officer (a misdemeanor), evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety (a felony), possession of a stolen vehicle (a felony), and transportation of marijuana for sale (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $80,000. He was taken into custody on County Road 9 at County Road O by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

8:13 p.m., David Ryan Sumahit, 45, a laborer who lives in Chico, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging transportation of marijuana for sale (a misdemeanor), possession of marijuana for sale (a misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance for sale (a felony), possession of a controlled substance (a misdemeanor), transportation of a controlled substance for sale (a felony), obstructing or resisting a public service officer (a misdemeanor), and altering, concealing or moving physical evidence (a misdemeanor), and a no-bail warrant out of Butte County alleging violation of post-release community supervistion (a felony). Bail on the fresh charges was set at $35,000. He was taken into custody on County Road 9 at County Road O by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

Sunday, Nov. 28:

2:57 a.m., Tylor Raymen Knight, 25, a farmer who lives in Laytonville, Calif., was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging public intoxication (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at zero. He was taken into custody at Vine and Plumas Streets, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

8:58 p.m., Christopher Alan Boyes, 38, a salesman who lives in Cottonwood, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and hit and run with property damage (all misdemeanors). Bail was set at $10,000. He was taken into custody on Interstate 5, just north of the Glenn-Tehama County line, by a California Highway Patrol officer.

Monday, Nov. 29:

No one was booked into the Glenn County Jail on this date.

Tuesday, Nov. 30:

11:08 a.m., at the Glenn County Jail, Luis Alberto Mancilla, 40, a laborer who lives in Willows, was found to have warrants alleging disobeying a court order (a misdemeanor). Total bail was set at $7,000.

1:36 p.m., Bryan Paul McLain, 19, a laborer who lives in Hamilton City, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $5,000. He was taken into custody at 350 Shasta Avenue, Hamilton City, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

2:10 p.m., Kathalena Dorothea Rodriguez, 36, an agricultural worker who lives in Hamilton City, was committed to the Glenn County Jail without bail on charges alleging violation of post-release community supervision (a felony). She was taken into custody at the Glenn County Probation Department, Willows, by a probation officer.

5:52 p.m., Gregory Wayne Lewis, 59, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging violation of a court order to prevent domestic violence (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $5,000. He was taken into custody at 7628 Capay Avenue, Orland (Capay District), by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

Monday, Nov. 22:

12:29 p.m., a man turned in to the Orland Police Department a wallet found on Sixth Street. The wallet was booked as found property and attempts will be made to contact the owner.

Tuesday, Nov. 23:

3:47 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 423 Fifth Street for a report of a woman yelling in the area. Officers searched but were not able to find anyone.

12:21 p.m., on Fourth Street at Suisun Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a black 2010 Mazda. Brittany Douglas, 25, of Orland, was cited for no license plates and no proof of insurance. Officers also contacted Dylon Wagoner, 28, who was issued a notice that his license is suspended.

4:10 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 35 East Walker street for a report of a non-injury traffic collision. Officers contacted Jose Reynoso, 52, who was driving a 2013 Dodge Challenger west on Walker Street and was rear-ended by a gray Ford Fusion as he was turning into the SavMor parking lot. Officers were unable to contact the driver of the Ford Fusion and a traffic collision report was taken.

6:37 p.m., Orland police officers contacted Timothy Walker, 47, of Orland, regarding a possible trespassing issue at the Black Butte Mobile Home Park, 6386 County Road 200. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone within the property. Walker said he would call back if the individuals returned.

7:49 p.m., Lolita Burd, 54, called requesting to talk to a police officer. Officers contacted Burd at 315 Eighth Street and determined she had no need for medical or law enforcement assistance.

Wednesday, Nov. 24:

1:30 a.m., the Orland Police Department received a report of a hit and run with property damage. At the Pilot Travel Center, 4444 Commerce Lane, a semi-trailer backed into a parked semi-trailer and left the scene. No suspect information was available. Deshawn Bush from Stockton did not see the suspect vehicle and was provided with an information exchange.

6:25 a.m., the Orland Police Department received a report of theft from a vehicle at 134 Faydon Way. Officers contacted Brian Hansen, 40, of Orland, who reported several tools were stolen from his vehicle sometime during the night.

9:47 a.m., Orland police officers responded to assist the CHP with a domestic dispute that occurred outside OPD jurisdiction. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

1:05 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a hit and run at Black Butte Dental, 413 Swift Street. Officers contacted Jessica Arias, 38, of Orland. She reported that someone hit her 2002 Honda Civic and fled the scene. She was provided with an information exchange.

1:12 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 116 Tanner Way for a report of a stolen generator. Officers contacted Evan Mulliner, 30, of Orland, who reported a Yamaha generator was stolen from his work vehicle sometime during the night.

Thursday, Nov. 25:

12:54 p.m., while at 725 South Tehama Street in Willows, Officers observed Adrian Lee, 31, on the property. He was known to have a felony arrest warrant out of Glenn County. Lee was arrested without incident and booked into the Glenn County Jail.

1:21 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Officers contacted Jovita Bonilla Perez, 34, and Carlos Guzman Hernandez, who had been in a verbal dispute. The dispute was settled by separation and mediation.

6:10 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a request for a welfare check at 511 Papst Avenue. Officers contacted a 71-year-old Orland resident, who requested that officers conduct a welfare check on Brenda Carver, 71. Officers then contacted Carver at her residence. Carver stated she was fine, but her son had been off his medications. Carver was provided with information.

6:44 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 238 East Yolo Street for a report of an assault and battery. Officers contacted Susan White, 60, who reported Amanda Gomes, 33, had battered Cy Gomes, 30. Cy Gomes signed a private person’s arrest for Amanda Gomes and a report was taken.

10:09 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 238 East Colusa Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers contacted 60 y/o Susan White, 60, who alleged that her daughter, Amanda Gomes, 33, returned to her residence and was causing a disturbance. Gomes left prior to officers’ arrival. White declined to press charges and the incident was documented.

10:28 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 929 Benson Drive for a report of loud music. Officers contacted the homeowner, who was told of the complaint and agreed to turn the music down.

Friday, Nov. 26:

2:11 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of juveniles breaking into vehicles at 85 Rennat Way. Officers contacted Shawn Montero, 28, who reported three children breaking into his 2014 Ford Focus. Montero requested documentation, and officers conducted an area check for the juveniles, but were unable to locate them.

3:15 a.m., the Orland Police Department assisted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office for a report of loud music at a location on Highway 99. Orland police officers assisted until no longer needed.

8:08 a.m., an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on Walker Street on a silver Lexus S-300 for an equipment violation. The driver, Riley Nelson, 19, of Orland, was issued a citation alleging a defective windshield and no proof of insurance.

9:33 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a burglary alarm at the U.S. Bank, 32 East Walker Street. Officers found the business secure and the alarm was set off in error.

11:22 a.m., Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on Railroad Avenue on a black Acura sedan for an equipment violation. The driver, Andreas Mendoza, 19, was issued a citation alleging a defective windshield and driving while unlicensed.

1:54 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of theft from an unlocked vehicle at 981 Harryman Street. Officers contacted Maria Parra, 42, of Orland, who said someone stole items out of her unlocked vehicle the night prior. Parra requested documentation of the incident.

3:17 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a welfare check of two elderly women at the Pilot Travel Center, 4444 Commerce Lane. Officers contacted two women, who reported having car problems and declined any assistance from the Orland Police Department. They were advised to call the Orland Police Department if they needed further assistance.

4:03 p.m., an Orland police officer observed Darrin Smith, 37, of Orland, get in the passenger seat of a 2016 Hyundai. Smith was known to have an arrest warrant out of Glenn County. On Walker Street, a traffic enforcement stop was initiated and after an investigation, the driver, Teal Busse, 36, of Orland, was issued a citation alleging false registration tabs. Smith was arrested for the warrants. Busse was released upon her signed promise to appear and Smith was booked into the Glenn County Jail.

5:22 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 817 Newport Avenue for a reported physical altercation. Officers contacted Caliph Bradford III, 45, of Orland, who alleged he was assaulted by James Beegle, 32, of Orland. Beegle fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

5:25 p.m., an Orland police officer found a clear plastic baggie containing narcotics while on patrol. The narcotics were collected and booked for destruction.

5:26 p.m., an Orland police officer learned of a possible domestic violence restraining order violation at 817 Newport Avenue. An investigation was initiated.

6:50 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 1319 Pine Street. Officers contacted Daniel Carranza, 30, of Orland, who stated his neighbor was upset over a parking issue. Officers mediated the situation and the incident was documented.

9:58 p.m., on Papst Avenue, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a white 2016 Ford sedan, for allegedly speeding. Following an on-scene investigation, the driver, Kiana Lewis, 26, of Chico, was arrested for driving while under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content above 0.08 percent. Lewis was transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail.

Saturday, Nov. 27:

7:51 a.m., on South Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a blue BMW 300 for an equipment violation. The driver, Shannon Jackson, 44, of Orland, was issued a citation for alleged expired registration.

8:54 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of vehicle theft at 858 Watts Avenue. Officers contacted Sonia Centeno, 39, of Orland, who stated an unknown person stole a white Kawasaki 300 ATV from her driveway the night prior.

1:31 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of loud music at 42 East Colusa Street. Officers contacted the resident, who was told of the complaint. The resident agreed to keep the music down.

3:03 p.m., on Colusa Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a Toyota Camry for a moving violation. The driver, Delfina Gonzalez, 40, of Orland, was issued a citation alleging failure to stop at a posted stop sign and failure to provide proof of insurance.

4:25 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 201 Yolo Street for a report of missing children. Officers contacted Patricia Coshow, 86, of Orland, who reported that her grandchildren may have wandered off while she was supposed to be watching them. After further investigation, officers determined that the grandchildren had not been at Coshow’s residence and the call was unfounded.

7:11 p.m., an Orland police officer was flagged down at the ampm mini mart, 902 Newville Road, by Carlos Guzman, 36, of Orland. Guzman reported an ongoing child custody issue between him and the mother of his children, Jovita Bonilla, 34. Officers advised Guzman of his options and a report was taken.

7:56 p.m., Orland police officers responded to County Road 9 to assist a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy who had located an occupied stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled when the deputy attempted a traffic stop and Orland police officers assisted in the pursuit. The occupants of the vehicle then fled on foot and Orland police officers assisted in capturing the two suspects. The Orland Police Department provided further assistance until no longer needed by Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies.

10:25 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of loud music playing at 328 Jaffe Lane. Officers contacted the homeowner, who was told of the complaint and agreed to turn the music down.

10:30 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an unknown people throwing rocks at the back of the residence at 120 Woodhaven Court.

11:30 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of two juveniles in a vehicle, possibly smoking, at the Pilot Travel Center on Commerce Lane. Officers contacted two adults, who said they stopped to get food. Officers determined no crime was committed.

Sunday, Nov. 28:

11:16 a.m., on South Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe for a moving violation. The driver, Fredy Jaimes Sr., 36, of Chico, was issued a citation alleging failure to stop at a posted stop sign and driving while his license status is suspended.

5:27 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision in the 800 block of Newville Road. Officers contacted Jesus Andrade, 36, of Orland, who had been struck by a blue 2004 Acura RSX driven by Fue Vang, 30, of Marysville. Andrade was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit. Andrade was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.

6:55 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to contact 18 y/o Cecilia Bereczky, 18, via telephone. Bereczky told officers of an ongoing issue with an ex-boyfriend. Officers provided Bereczky with information regarding restraining orders.

7:10 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the Rancho De Soto Apartments, 1003 Newport Avenue, for a report of a suspicious person. Officers contacted Humberto Cervantes, 44, of Orland, who alleged Anselmo Bautista, 27, of Hamilton City, has been following him, watching him and parking outside of his home. During the officers’ contact with Cervantes, Bautista was seen driving by Cervantes’ home. Officers contacted Bautista and counseled him on his behavior. The incident was documented.

8:04 p.m., Orland police officers responded to assist the CHP with a report of a white Chevrolet Tahoe driving north on Interstate 5 that had run a vehicle off the road and attempted to assault the driver of another vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic enforcement stop on northbound I-5, north of County Road 7. Officers provided assistance until no longer needed by CHP officers, who subsequently arrested the driver.

Monday, Nov. 29:

1:38 a.m., Orland police officers responded to 4663 County Road E for a report of an unresponsive person. Officers began life-saving measures and the person was transported by ambulance for further treatment.

3:30 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of harassment. Officers contacted Letticia Cordero, 25, who reported she was being harassed on social media. Cordero was provided with information and the incident was documented.

10:54 a.m., an Orland police officer found the railroad crossing arms malfunctioning on South Street. Officers stood by until the road was closed by public works. California Northern Railroad was notified.

11:20 a.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of an unattended child playing with a mailbox and power pole on Woodward Avenue. Officers checked the area but did not find a child matching the description.

2 p.m., on South Street, an Orland police officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a white 2006 Ford Mustang for a moving violation. Officers contacted Karinna Markoe, 45, of Willows, who was issued a citation for allegedly failing to stop at a posted stop sign.

2:20 p.m., on Yolo Street, an Orland police officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a tan 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe for a moving violation. Officers contacted Marilyn Ponci, 68, of Orland, who was issued a citation for allegedly failing to stop at a posted stop sign.

5:04 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of theft at 613 Jacquelyn Drive. Officers contacted Roberto Alvarez, 56, of Orland, who reported that someone stole the catalytic converter from his 2005 Honda.

9:03 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 912 Watts Avenue. Officers contacted Miriam Delgado, 39, and Cristobal Delgado, 41, of Orland. Miriam Delgado alleged that she and Cristobal Delgado were in an argument and Cristobal Delgado was refusing to leave. Both parties were counseled, and Merriam Delgado agreed to leave for the night.

Monday, Nov. 22:

3:57 p.m., Enloe Prompt Care reported a victim of domestic violence was at their facility. Deputy Rasmussen made contact with the confidential victim, who alleged her husband had grabbed her wrist and hit himself in his face with her hand. The victim said this caused pain to her wrist that radiated up her arm and made her seek medical care. Deputy Rasmussen contacted the husband at a residence on County Road 67, who admitted to committing the act described by the confidential victim. He was placed under arrest for alleged domestic violence and was transported to the Glenn County Jail for booking. This case will be referred to the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Tuesday, Nov. 23:

4:57 p.m., an anonymous person alleged Jeremy Bem was leaving the Willow Oaks Apartments, 1201 West Wood Street, while intoxicated and driving a white Ford focus to his residence. Deputy Goodwin located Bem and his vehicle parked at the ampm mini market. After an on-scene investigation, Bem was determined to allegedly be driving while under the influence and arrested. Bem’s vehicle was left on scene and secured. Bem was transported and booked into Glenn County Jail.

5:48 p.m., Deputy Lourenzo responded to the intersection of Wood Street and Pacific Avenue, Willows, for a report of a traffic collision involving four vehicles. Upon arrival, Deputy Lourenzo contacted Brian Brothers in his 2010 Ford F150, Randall Ladd in his 2019 Ford F250, Maniela Soneouthay in her 2018 Chevy Tahoe, and Jesus Esparza in his 2004 Chevy Silverado. All parties reported the accident occurred while Brothers was traveling west on West Wood Street behind Esparza as they approached Pacific Avenue, and both Ladd and Soneouthay were parked at the stop sign on Pacific Avenue, north of W. Wood Street. It was reported that Esparza attempted to turn his vehicle north onto Pacific Avenue from West Wood Street, but while doing so, the front end of Brothers’ vehicle collided with the rear end of Esparza’s vehicle, resulting in major damage to both vehicles. The initial collision caused Esparza’s vehicle to collide with Ladd’s vehicle, which then collided with Soneouthay’s vehicle, resulting in moderate damage to both vehicles. It was later learned that the rear tail lamps and brake lights on Esparza’s vehicle were not operational at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Deputy Lourenzo assisted all parties in exchanging information.

Wednesday, Nov. 24:

2:28 a.m., the Glenn County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) team conducted an investigation on a sex registrant, Jonathon Frank Krantz of Orland, who was found to be in violation of his registration requirements. Deputy Lemmon completed the investigation and submitted his report to the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.

3:58 a.m., the Glenn County SAFE team conducted an investigation on a sex registrant, Lester Elmer Crouch of Willows, who was found to be in violation of his registration requirements. Deputy Lemmon completed the investigation and submitted his report to the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.

2:04 p.m., Deputy Ramirez contacted Jayna Young at 415 East Oak Street in Willows. Deputy Ramirez had prior knowledge Young had an outstanding Glenn County misdemeanor warrant. Glenn County Communications confirmed the warrant was active. Deputy Ramirez placed Young under arrest and transported her to the Glenn County Jail without further incident.

10:17 p.m., Deputy Goodwin located a vehicle parked in front of Murdock Elementary School off French Street in Willows. The vehicle was parked in a no parking zone after school hours. Deputy Goodwin contacted the occupant of the vehicle, who had been sleeping in the rear passenger area. The occupant was later identified as Sourisack Senephansiri out of Oakland. Senephansiri was allegedly uncompliant and refused lawful orders. A records check of Senephansiri showed he had a citable warrant for his arrest out of Siskiyou County. Senephansiri eventually agreed to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody for allegedly disobeying a lawful order from a peace officer. Senephansiri was transported to the Glenn County Jail, where he was booked on the fresh charge and cited for his warrant.

Thursday, Nov. 25:

12:46 p.m., Deputy Thompson was dispatched to a report of a woman who was unresponsive and not breathing. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and attempted lifesaving efforts on Leila Thomas, 95, of Orland. All lifesaving efforts were exhausted and Thomas was pronounced deceased by an emergency doctor from Enloe. The decedent’s next of kin was present at the time of her death.

Friday, Nov. 26:

10 a.m., while on routine patrol, Deputy Huichapan contacted Michele Urrutia at the Sinclair gas station on Highway 32 in Hamilton City. A records check on Urrutia through Glenn County Communications revealed an active misdemeanor warrant out of Glenn County. Deputy Huichapan informed Urrutia of the active misdemeanor warrant and placed her under arrest. Urrutia was transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail without further incident.

12:29 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 775 Southgate Drive, Willows, for a report of Maria Paniagua allegedly violating a restraining order. Paniagua was reported to have left the area via Green Street. Sergeant Draper located Paniagua at 810 North Humboldt Avenue. After investigation, Paniagua allegedly admitted she was within the 100 yard stay away order of the residence on Southgate Drive. Glenn County Communications confirmed the served domestic violence restraining order. Paniagua was taken into custody, transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail for allegedly violating the restraining order.

7:25 p.m., Deputy Turner was on routine patrol and observed Christopher Simpson walking into the Willows Walmart. Glenn County Communications said Simpson had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Glenn County Communications confirmed the $10,000 bail misdemeanor warrant. Deputy Turner located Simpson and placed him under arrest. Simpson was transported to the Glenn County Jail, where he was turned over to jail staff for booking.

Saturday, Nov. 27:

7:56 p.m., Deputy Turner conducted a records check on a 2001 Subaru Outback, Nevada license plate #099R95, that was traveling on County Road 9, near County Road O. Glenn County Communications said the vehicle came back stolen out of Reno, Nevada. Deputy Turner conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle, at which point the vehicle fled the area. Speeds at times reached over 100 miles per hour. On more than one occasion, objects that appeared to be bags of marijuana could be seen being thrown from the vehicle. Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies and Orland police officers pursued the vehicle over 18 miles and into two counties. Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the two suspects inside the vehicle. The two suspects were David Ryan Sumahit and Latsamy Kangmeuang, both of Orland.

Sunday, Nov. 28:

2:48 a.m., Tylor Knight of Joliet, Ill., contacted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to report he was lost and could not find his aunt’s house. Deputy Chavez responded to the area of North Plumas and Vine Streets. Deputy Chavez contacted Knight, who allegedly displayed objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, including slurred speech, red watery eyes, and an unsteady stance. Deputy Chavez determined Knight was unable to care for himself due to his alleged level of intoxication, and was subsequently placed under arrest for public intoxication. Knight was transported to the Glenn County Jail. While at the jail, Knight submitted to a preliminary alcohol screening (PAS), which allegedly displayed he had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .225 percent, almost three times the legal limit for drinking and driving. Knight was to be released when sober.

8:14 a.m., emergency medical and fire personnel were dispatched to 1021 Washington Street in Willows for a report of an unresponsive man who was not breathing. The man was later identified by his California ID as Vernon Vierra. Fire personnel were first on-scene and declared Vierra dead. Deputy Huichapan arrived shortly after and confirmed the decedent’s death. The next of kin, Chad Vierra, was on-scene and was notified of the death. Deputy Huichapan initiated an investigation and learned the decedent suffered from preexisting medical conditions, was under the care of a doctor, and his death was expected. The decedent was released to the care of F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary, Willows.

The woman who was flown by FlightCare helicopter to Enloe Medical Center following a rollover crash on County Road 30 Friday afternoon was later arrested on charges alleging DUI.

At about 1:34 p.m. on Nov. 26, the California Highway Patrol received a report of an overturned vehicle in a field on the north side of County Road 30, east of County Road M.

Nadine Lee Richardson, 54, of Orland, was driving a 2017 Chevy Sonic east on County Road 30, when, due to her alleged level of intoxication and possibly swerving to miss a cat, the car traveled off the north side of Road 30, crashed through a wire fence, and rolled over in the field.

The Chevy came to rest on its roof, about 20 feet from the north edge of the roadway.

According to CHP Officer Rodney Pozzi, Richardson was wearing her seatbelts at the time of the accident. It could also be seen that the Sonic’s driver’s side airbags had deployed.

The Enloe FlightCare helicopter landed in a field on the south side of Road 30.

As reported in The Observer late Friday evening, Richardson was first treated in a ground ambulance that was parked in the middle of the road, then was transported the short distance to the waiting helicopter.

According to the CHP, Richardson was flown to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment of moderate injuries that included an abrasion to her head, and pain to her back and right arm.

She was arrested on charges alleging driving while under the influence of alcohol, but was released to the hospital for treatment.

The Chevy Sonic was flipped over onto its wheels and towed from the scene by Bambauer Towing.

2:06 p.m., Christopher Scott Allen, 46, a construction worker who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging assault with a deadly weapon (a felony), threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize (a felony), infliction of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant (a felony), possession of a firearm by a felon (a felony), possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (a felony), evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety (a felony), exhibition of a deadly weapon other than a firearm (a misdemeanor), carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle (a misdemeanor), obstructing or resisting a public service officer (a misdemeanor), and driving with a suspended license (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $260,000, but he was also held without bail on charges alleging violation of parole (a felony). He was taken into custody at County Roads KK and 18 by an Orland police officer.

5:18 p.m., Antonio De La Cruz, 56, a laborer who lives in Marysville, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and driving without a license (all misdemeanors). Bail was set at $10,000. He was taken into custody at East and South Streets by an Orland police officer.

7:17 p.m., Erick B. Gonzalez-Madera, 27, a laborer who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging public intoxication (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at zero. He was taken into custody at 334 North Sonoma Street, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

Tuesday, Nov. 16:

12:26 p.m., at the Glenn County Jail, inmate Matthew James Fleming, 58, a laborer who lives in Orland, was found to have a warrant alleging failure to appear after being released on his own recognizance (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $14,000.

2:55 p.m., Kathalena Dorothea Rodriguez, 36, an agricultural laborer who lives in Hamilton City, was committed to the Glenn County Jail without bail on charges alleging violation of post-release community supervision (a felony). She was taken into custody at 395 Los Robles Avenue, Hamilton City, by a Glenn County probation officer.

Wednesday, Nov. 17:

10:38 a.m., Krishnakant Hasmukhlal Ramdas, 33, a clerk who lives in Orland, was remanded to the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging misdemeanor violation of probation, and felony violation of probation. Bail was set at $27,000. He was taken into custody at the jail by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

5:37 p.m., Johnathian Cuin-Perez, 20, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on warrants alleging disobeying a court order, and failure to appear after giving a written promise (both misdemeanors). Total bail was set at $18,000. He was taken into custody at 50 East Colusa Street, Orland, by a Glenn County probation officer.

7:30 p.m., Monica Lee Hammond, 32, a laborer who lives in Orland, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging misdemeanor violation of probation, and a warrant alleging disobeying a court order (a misdemeanor). 2:44 p.m., Marcos Antonio Gonzales, 36, an auto technician who lives in Artois, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging lewd and lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years of age and the defendant was 10 or more years older than the child (a felony). Bail was set at $100,000. He was taken into custody at 315 South Tehama Street, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

7:45 p.m., Glenn County Jail inmate Stanley Scott Grundy, 45, a laborer who lives in Corning, was arrested on a warrant alleging possession of a weapon by a prisoner, and manufacture of a weapon by a prisoner (both felonies). Bail was set at $50,000.

8:18 a.m., Jennifer May Shockley, 30, a laborer who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on warrants alleging failure to appear after being released on her own recognizance (a misdemeanor). 10:23 a.m., Seth Dasan Dominguez-Feathers, 27, a laborer who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on a warrant alleging failure to appear after being released on his own recognizance (a misdemeanor). Bail was set at $22,000. He was taken into custody at 600 North Humboldt Avenue, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.

10:41 a.m., Kaelene Elizabeth Scritchfield, 30, a laborer who lives in Willows, was booked into the Glenn County Jail on charges alleging felony violation of probation. Bail was set at $35,000. She was taken into custody at the Glenn County Probation Department, Willows, by a probation officer.

Bail was set at $10,000. He was taken into custody on County Road 30 at Highway 99 by a California Highway Patrol officer.

A woman was transported by helicopter to Enloe Medical Center after rolling her car early Friday afternoon.

At about 1:39 p.m. on Nov. 26, evidence at the scene indicates that the woman, whose name, age, and city of residence are not known to The Observer, was driving a Chevy Sonic east on County Road 30, east of County Road M.

For a reason presently unknown, the car traveled off the north side of Road 30, through a wire fence, and rolled over in field.

The Chevy came to rest on its roof, about 20 feet from the north edge of the roadway.

It is not known if the driver was wearing her seatbelts at the time of the accident, but it could be seen that her airbags deployed.

The Enloe FlightCare helicopter landed in a field on the south side of Road 30.

The driver of the Sonic was first treated in a ground ambulance that was parked in the middle of the road, then was transported the short distance to the waiting helicopter.

The Chevy Sonic was flipped over onto its wheels and towed from the scene by Bambauer Towing.

Nathan Monck was officially sworn in as the new Willows Fire Chief at Tuesday’s Willows City Council meeting.

He succeeds Wayne Peabody, whose last day as chief was September 17.

Monck, 28, who attended Orland High School and Sacramento City College, has served the County of Glenn for nearly a decade.

He joined the Orland Volunteer Fire Department in 2015. He later became an engineer in the Willows Fire Department.

Monck and his wife, Katrina, have two children.

His mother is Christine Monck-Hokema, and his father is the late Glenn County Sheriff’s detective, Steven Monck, who died in 2012.

Friday, Nov. 12:

7:30 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm at Ampla Health, 1211 Cortina Drive. It was determined the alarm was set off in error by an employee.

7:46 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a subject asleep in a car, blocking the parking lot at 125 East Walker Street. Officers contacted Kenneth Roberson, 60, who ran out of gas. Officers assisted with moving the vehicle.

2:25 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a civil issue at 232 East Yolo Street. Officers contacted Rafael Ramirez-Pacheco, 79, of Orland, who stated cats are coming onto his yard and causing a mess. Ramirez-Pacheco was provided with information.

3:07 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 806 Cherry Circle. Jason Rhoades, 36, reported Casey Bayles, 48, was causing a disturbance at the residence. Bayles left prior to the arrival of officers and Rhoades was provided with information.

4:03 p.m., the Orland Police Department was contacted by Stephanie Smith, 36, of Orland, who reported she found some property in the roadway. The owner of the property was notified.

4:25 p.m., on East South Street, an Orland police officer conducted an enforcement stop on a brown 2021 Chevrolet Traverse for a moving violation. The driver, Hector Almaguer, 37, of Orland, was cited for allegedly speeding.

8:40 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of a dispute between neighbors in the area of 76 Chapman Street. Officers contacted Veronica Jimenez, 40, of Orland, and Jose Cisneros, 27, also of Orland. Both parties were provided with information on how to obtain a restraining order.

9:06 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of a theft that had occurred at the Orlanda Inn Motel, 827 Newville Road. Officers contacted Raksha Ramdas, 60, who alleged her son, Krishnakant Ramdas, 33, stole money from her before leaving the scene. Officers located Krishnakant, who was subsequently arrested for alleged robbery and possession of metal knuckles. Krishnakant was transported to the Glenn County Jail, where he was booked.

9:58 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of a truck who struck two separate trucks at the Pilot Travel Center, 4444 Commerce Lane. Officers contacted Reynaldo Caldera, 60, of Turlock, who was driving a white 2020 Freightliner semi-truck and collided with a parked white 2022 Volvo semi-truck operated by Christina Cruz, 28, of Orland, and then with a parked white 2012 semi-truck/trailer combination driven by Simranjot Rai, 21, of Yuba City. Officers assisted with information exchanges between the parties for the two collisions and Caldera was counseled regarding his driving.

Saturday, Nov. 13:

12:59 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of trespassing at 301 South Street. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone who matched the description provided by the reporting party. The reporting party was told to call back if the person returned.

4:26 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an unknown male who was found sleeping within the residence at 364 Chapman Street, who was unknown to the homeowner. Officers contacted Tony Rangel, 20, who allegedly showed objective signs of intoxication. Rangel was placed under arrest and transported to the Glenn County Jail for alleged public intoxication.

11:41 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a woman yelling in the roadway near 22 East Swift Street. Officers contacted Rosita Gois, 43, of Chico, who was counseled on her behavior.

11:48 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 819 Newport Avenue. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any disturbance or anyone in the residence.

1:30 p.m., the Orland Police Department contacted Victor Zaragoza, 28, of Orland, via telephone. Zaragoza stated Rosa Garcia, 28, of Orland, was not meeting him for a child custody exchange.

1:50 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to contact Rosa Garcia. Garcia stated her baby’s father, Victor Zaragoza, failed to meet at the agreed upon time for a child exchange. (See the previous police log item.)

4:40 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a person possibly under the influence of drugs at Sav-Mor Foods, 35 East Walker Street. Officers conducted an area check but were unable to locate anyone matching the description.

6:51 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of loud music in the area of 245 East Colusa Street. Officers contacted Abel Zarco, 21, of Orland, who agreed to turn the music down. Officers received a second call for loud music at the same residence. Officers contacted Zarco and the music was turned off.

9:14 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an unknown man on a bicycle, riding around the Rancho De Soto apartment complex. Officers contacted Marcus Godinez, 26, who said he was riding his bicycle for exercise.

Officers contacted Elvia Espinoza, 48, of Orland, who was issued a citation for allegedly failing to stop at a posted stop sign, and not having proof of insurance.

11:06 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a noise complaint for loud music at 246 East Colusa Street. Alexis Zarco, 21, of Orland, was issued a citation for alleged violation of Orland’s noise ordinance.

11:21 p.m., Orland police officers responded to assist Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies with a reported disturbance at 6772 Highway 32. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

Sunday, Nov. 14:

12:18 a.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of loud music playing at 911 Third Street. Officers contacted Edgar Pureco, 42, of Orland. Officers told Pureco of the complaint and he agreed to turn off the music for the night.

3:54 a.m., Orland police officers responded to the Speedway, 1185 Hoff Way, for a report of an unknown man who attempted to purchase items with a counterfeit bill.

5:03 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 1011 Cortina Court for a 911 hang-up call with a disturbance heard in the background. Officers contacted Juan Herrera, 39, and Celia Garza, 34, of Orland. Both parties said the disturbance was verbal only and agreed to separate for the night.

11:57 a.m., Orland police officers responded to 321 South Street for a report of a man brandishing a shotgun. Officers arrived and contacted Trisha Schmitt, 43, of Orland, who reported a domestic violence incident that occurred on Nov. 10 and an alleged brandishing of a shotgun on Nov. 14 by her ex-boyfriend Christopher Allen, 46, of Orland. During the investigation and with the assistance of Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies, Allen was located driving a silver Honda Accord just outside the city limits of Orland. Allen allegedly failed to stop his vehicle for officers and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Allen was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Glenn County Jail on multiple felony charges.

4:10 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside Walgreens. Officers contacted Joseph Grinceri, 61, of Fontana, who was allegedly found to have a suspended license. Grinceri was issued notice of his suspended license and agreed to move his vehicle.

4:54 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the Super Shopper, 1233 East Street, for a reported traffic collision. After an investigation, Antonio De La Cruz of Marysville was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence and being an unlicensed driver.

10:34 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of loud music playing in the area of 153 East Mill Street. Officers contacted Odilon Guarnos, 33, of Orland. Officers told Guarnos of the complaint and he agreed to turn off the music.

Monday, Nov. 15:

3:44 a.m., the Orland Police Department received a report of a non-injury collision that occurred at Pilot Travel Center, 4444 Commerce Lane. Officers assisted the drivers with exchanging information.

7:02 a.m., Orland police officers responded to the Speedway, 1021 South Street, for a report of a person being followed. Officers contacted Johnathan Candy, 35, of Orange County, who reported he thought he was being followed. Candy was provided with information and the incident was documented.

12:57 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 848 Walker Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside. Officers contacted Joseph Grinceri, 61, of Fontana, who said that his vehicle would not start. Officers assisted Grinceri with moving his vehicle and a tow truck was called at his request.

4:07 p.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of a burgundy Toyota Camry driving recklessly on Colusa Street. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the driver, Fermin Montes-Salgado, 48, exiting Orland Food and Liquor at Walker Street and Woodward Avenue. After an investigation, Montes-Salgado was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. Montes-Salgado was booked into the Glenn County Jail.

5:26 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary at 501 Second Street. Officers contacted Nancy Ellis, 56, of Orland. Ellis reported that unknown suspects forced entry into her residence and burglarized it between 9:45 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 16:

1:10 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm at Orland Food and Liquor, 160 East Walker Street. After further investigation, officers found the business had been vandalized.

1:33 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an alarm activation at Orland Liberty Food and Gas, 506 Sixth Street. Officers determined the front glass door was broken. The business and surrounding area were searched but nobody was located. After further investigation, it was determined that an unknown amount of alcohol bottles and lottery scratchers had been stolen. An investigation was initiated.

6:06 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an alarm activation at Fairview School, 1308 Fairview Street. As officers arrived, the alarm company canceled the response as the proper code was provided.

11:20 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a request for a welfare check at 1210 East Street. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence and the incident was documented.

12:17 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a woman attempting to pass a fake bill at the Speedway, 1185 Hoff Way. Officers contacted Victoria Taylor, 61, who reported a person attempt to pay for gas with a fake $100 bill. Officers contacted Rafael Munoz, 57, who stated he found the money and believed it was real. Munoz was counselled and given a notice of suspension.

3:27 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 116 East Swift Street for a report of a child custody issue. Officers contacted Mayte Baca-Perez, 28, of Orland, who alleged that Jacinto Gutierrez-Perez, 25, violated her restraining order.

11:56 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving all over westbound Walker Street. Officers conducted an area check but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Wednesday, Nov. 17:

8:53 p.m., Orland police officers responded to Cortina Drive for a report of a possible restraining order violation. Officers contacted Humberto Santana-Cervantes, 44, of Orland. After an investigation, Santana-Cervantes was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Santana-Cervantes was transported and booked into the Glenn County Jail.

Thursday, Nov. 18:

8:53 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of theft at 250 Roosevelt Avenue. Officers contacted a school employee, who reported theft of survey flags on the school farm. The incident was documented and extra patrol was requested.

10:16 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of Bridget Reed, 25, and TJ Morrison, 27, causing a disturbance at the Orland branch of the Glenn County Superior Court, 831 East South Street. Reed and Morrison were counselled and released.

11:04 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a suspicious Snapchat that was sent to students at Orland High School. Officers contacted Counsellor Sydney Wooldridge who reported two students got sent a Snapchat profile that contained possible child pornography. Officers could not view the images and the students could not find the profile in question. Wooldridge was referred to make an online report to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

2:20 p.m., at the Orland Police Department, an officer signed off a correctible citation.

3:45 p.m., an Orland police officer contacted Chico resident Jerry Norton by phone regarding someone who was mean to him while he was trying to sell solar. Norton declined to be a victim and the incident was documented.

4 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 510 Fourth Street for a report of a verbal disturbance. Officers contacted Bridget Reed, 25, and TJ Morrison, 27. Officers determined the disturbance was verbal only and the matter was settled by separation.

Friday, Nov. 19:

12:30 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance at the Paigewood Village Apartments. Officers contacted Angela Watts, 38, and her 17-year-old daughter. The girl reported that an unknown man entered her residence while she was home. Officers were unable to develop any other leads and Watts requested it to be documented.

8:10 a.m., Orland police officers contacted Jennifer Shockley, 30, of Orland, at 819 Newport Avenue. Shockley was arrested and booked for three Glenn County misdemeanor warrants.

10:40 a.m., on Third Street at Colusa Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a silver 2007 Honda Odyssey for an equipment violation. Raymond Auvigne, 33, of Orland, was cited for alleged expired registration and no proof of insurance.

12:34 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a non-injury traffic collision on South Street at Sixth Street. Officers assisted the parties exchange information.

1:44 p.m., an Orland police officer signed off a correctible citation at the Orland Police Department.

3:07 p.m., Orland Public Works turned in a cell phone found at Plumas and Shasta Streets. The cell phone was processed as found property.

3:16 p.m., at the Orland Stop and Shop, 10 Walker Street, Orland police officers arrived at the scene of a non-injury collision between two vehicles. The officers assisted the parties exchange information.

3:20 p.m., on Tehama Street at East Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a gray 1992 Toyota Tacoma for an equipment violation. The 17-year-old driver was cited for illegal window tint.

3:33 p.m., on Colusa Street, an Orland police officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a white 2004 Nissan Xterra. Samuel Erwin, 37, of Chico, was cited for allegedly using a cell phone while driving.

3:37 p.m., Claudia Nunez reported a student was harassing her daughter via email. Nunez was provided with information.

3:45 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 800 Almond Way for a report of a physical altercation. Officers contacted Ma Lee, 33, who stated he was in a dispute with Jaime Barbeiro, who left prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Officers were unable to contact Barbeiro.

7:35 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 949 East Street to check the welfare of a 14-year-old girl. Officers contacted the juvenile who advised she was safe and did not require any law enforcement assistance.

9:10 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a security alarm activation at the Glenn County Office of Education, 676 East Walker Street. Officers conducted a search of the building and found all doors and windows secured. No signs of forced entry or suspicious activity were found.

Saturday, Nov. 20:

1:38 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a person asleep behind the wheel, blocking westbound traffic on East Walker Street at East Street. Officers contacted the driver, Luis Gutierrez, 35, of Orland. Following an investigation, Gutierrez was arrested and booked for allegedly driving while under the influence.

5:25 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of an unknown woman yelling and causing a disturbance at the Orlanda Inn Motel, 827 Newville Road. Officers contacted Misty Lawrence, 51, who said she was upset because her bicycle wheels had been taken. Lawrence requested documentation only at this time.

9:43 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a burglary that occurred sometime during the night at Westside Recycling, 532 Fourth Street. An investigation was initiated.

12:33 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a non-injury traffic collision in the 500 block of Walker Street. Officers found both parties were already exchanging information and didn’t require police assistance.

1:31 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a 911 hang-up at 226 East Shasta Street. Officers were unable to locate the source of the call and no assistance was needed by anyone in the area.

2:54 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to Ninth Street to check the welfare of a man on the sidewalk. Officers contacted Daniel Esturban, 38, who said he was fine and didn’t require police assistance. Esturban agreed to leave the area.

4:06 p.m., at the Speedway on 1185 Hoff Way, an Orland police officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a gold 2001 Honda Accord. Pedro Barajas-Mendoza, 39, of Orland, was cited for allegedly not having child passengers properly restrained while driving.

7:40 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of a cold shoplifting at Walgreens. Officers contacted the manager, who reported three black women took items without paying.

9:09 p.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of loud music in the area of Suisun and Fifth Streets. Officers contacted the homeowner, who was told of the complaint and agreed to turn the music down.

11:48 p.m., Orland police officers responded to Fifth Street at Monterey Street for a report of possible gunshots heard in the area. Officers conducted a search of the area, which was quiet on arrival. No signs of suspicious activity or evidence of gunshots fired were found.

12:26 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of possible gunshots heard in the area. Officers conducted a search of the area of A Street at Colusa Street, which was quiet upon arrival. No signs of suspicious activity or evidence of gunshots fired were found. (Editor’s Note: The publisher of The Glenn County Observer heard the six to eight pops, which did not sound like fireworks, and thought they came from a location closer to Woodward Avenue.)

7:16 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 299 Gable Drive for a report of a hit and run. Officers contacted Jose Hernandez of Orland, who was provided with information.

9:18 a.m., at 500 Fourth Street, an Orland police officer issued a parking citation to a red 1993 Ford F250 for expired registration.

9:27 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person in the Dollar General, 851 Newville Road. Officers contacted Becky Falcon, 43, who was shopping with her daughter and declined any assistance.

9:42 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 812 Walker Street for a report of a hit and run. Officers contacted Roberto Rosales, who reported an unknown vehicle hit his parked 2009 Honda Civic sometime during the night. Rosales was provided with information.

12:45 p.m., the Orland Police Department assisted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office with a report of shots heard in the area of 4582 Highway 99. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

5:25 p.m., Kathleen Hernandez, 46, reported unknown subjects stole the plates off her 2005 Ford Mustang at 1003 Newport Avenue.

6:14 p.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Paigewood Village Apartments. Officers contacted Lance Mooney, 52, who said there were no issues at his residence and he didn’t require assistance.

Monday, Nov. 22:

3:08 a.m., Orland police officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm at Burger King, 901 Newville Road. Officers found an unlocked door to the business and conducted a building search. Nothing suspicious was found and the building was secured.

3:41 a.m., the Orland Police Department assisted the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office with a check of the area around County Roads 12 and FF 1/2 for a suspicious person. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

4:42 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to Tehama Street and Newville Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and contacted Miguel Hernandez, 33, of Stockton, who said he was traveling to Redding and stopped to take a nap.

4:42 a.m., Orland police officers responded to the report of a burglary alarm activation at the former Berry Patch Restaurant, 900 Newville Road. Officers were cancelled on arrival.

9:25 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 625 Third Street to check the welfare of Robert Sinclair, 61. Officers contacted Sinclair who declined assistance.

9:55 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to 924 Trinity Street for a civil standby for child custody. Officers contacted Daneen Torres, 57, who stated she was there to get her grandson. Officers then contacted Laura Bowman, 33, who provided officers with a good cause for with holdment form. Officers provided information to both parties.

11:08 a.m., Orland police officers were dispatched to a report of tampering with a vehicle at 713 Lynn Drive. Officers contacted Matthew Lacko, 30, of Orland, who reported an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from his white 2007 Honda Civic. The incident was documented and extra patrol was requested.

5:09 p.m., Orland police officers responded to 936 A Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers contacted Juan Lopez, 25, of Fresno, who reported that his green 2000 Honda Civic was stolen this day around 4:30 p.m.
