Obituary: Brian Herman Ceccon Gonzi, 23

Surrounded by loved ones, Brian Herman Ceccon Gonzi died in Goodyear, Ariz., on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was born in Sacramento to Kena Ceccon and Brandon Gonzi on March 24, 1999.

He lived a life close to family and full of friendship, always making time for his loved ones and never missing a holiday gathering. He especially took time to make memories and share lots of laughter with his cousins.

He had a love for hunting with his Uncle Gabriel, which began as soon as he could walk. He enjoyed fishing, playing football, dirt bike riding, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and cousins.

He was a respected employee and was loyal to his workplaces: The U.S. Forest Service, Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District, and the Yellow Jacket Drilling Service.

He was also a member of the Willows Fire Department, where he went out on several fires, creating a special bond with his crewmates. He made a lasting impression on his co-workers with his sincerity and willingness to help others.

He is survived his mother, Kena Ceccon; grandparents Mike and Janet Niehues; aunts and uncles Gabriel and Allison Niehues, Kyle and Cally Niehues, and Steven and Corey Permann of Willows; father Brandon Gonzi and stepmother Rebecca; brothers Pilot and Ebin Gonzi of Sacramento; grandmother Mary Gonzi of Tenn.; uncle Brian Lyons (namesake) and Aunt Sheryl of Arcata; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Gauge Gonzi; and his loving and loyal dog, Zeus.

A viewing is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary, Willows. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, at Saint Monica’s Catholic Church in Willows, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, you are asked to donate to a charity of choice in Brian’s name. Arrangements are being handled by F.D. Sweet and Son, 114 North Shasta Street, Willows, CA 95988.

  1. I am deeply sorry to hear of Brian’s death. I loved this family growing up and I feel extreme sympathy for all of them. Kena, Janet, Mike, Kyle, Gabe and Corey, my heart breaks for you. I will continue to pray for you!
