James (Jim) Oyde Bankston of Willows died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico. He was born in Oak Grove, La., on Dec. 13, 1936.
He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker. He was loved by his whole family and many, many others. He loved them all deeply.
He was proud to have worked in the oil fields for 52 years and considered all he worked for and with to be his second family.
He is survived by his wife, Millie Bankston; children (and their spouses) Kathy Bynum (Larry), Anita Hemming (Dave), Penny Bankston, Chuck Allen (Angela), Tammy Taylor, and Dee Dee Nelson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brothers Donald (Veda), Emmit (Jo), and Gary (Mary) Bankston; and beloved pets Dixie and Winnie, which gave him great comfort.
He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Glenn Bankston; parents James Bankston and Ruby Sims Bankston; brothers Lee Otis and Douglas Randall Bankston; and sisters Dorothy Katherine Tally and Shirley Gaye Hodges.
Graveside services were scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at the Willows Cemetery. A celebration of life was to follow at the Elks Lodge, 150 South Shasta Street, Willows.
