On Oct. 24, a Willows man was booked into the Glenn County Jail on felonies that included false imprisonment and torture.
According to the jail’s media release for 5:08 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, Ryan Lee McMillen, 41, of Willows, was booked into the jail on charges alleging false imprisonment, threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and torture (all felonies).
His bail was set at $685,000, but he was also held without bail on charges alleging violation of parole (a felony).
The press release said he was taken into custody at Canton and East Cedar Streets, Willows, by a Glenn County Sheriff’s deputy.
Oddly, there was nothing in the sheriff’s logs for this date regarding this incident.
On Monday, Oct. 31, this reporter stopped by the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office to see if any further information regarding the above incident was to be had.
A deputy said the case was still under investigation and no more information could be released at this time, other than the fact that Ryan McMillen was still in custody in the Glenn County Jail.
McMillen has a long and serious criminal record. According to the Glenn County Superior Court, in 2002, he was sentenced to 78 days in jail and four years’ probation for grand theft auto; also, later in 2002, he was sentenced to 167 days in jail and his probation was extended to five years for possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, then in 2003, he was sentenced to he was sentenced to eight months in prison for violation of probation; also in 2002, he was sentenced to 167 days in jail and his probation was extended to five years for violent injury on a custodial officer, then in 2003, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for violation of probation; in 2007, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; in 2015, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for possession of stolen property; also in 2015, he was sentenced to a year in prison for attempted burglary; and again in 2015, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for possession of a firearm by a felon; in 2017, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for possession of stolen property; in early 2018, he was sentenced to four years in prison for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner, with one prior; also in early 2018, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for vandalism in excess of $400; and later in 2018, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the Butte County Superior Court, in 2004, McMillen was sentenced to eight months in prison for causing injury while driving while under the influence of alcohol. However, he received 313 days’ credit for time served, and his sentence was made consecutive to the sentences in Glenn County, for a total sentence in prison of four years, four months.
On Dec. 5, 2021, Ryan McMillen posted a selfie on his Facebook page.
The next day, Norma Cordero asked him, “U out??”
McMillen answered on Dec. 9, “Yeah I got out a couple days ago”.
Cordero responded early the next morning, “right on. Now stay out of trouble! Much love ur way”.
